I've leveled all roles. With DPS roles it's just important to use your leve allowances and fill out that hunting log. Can help as well to have a decent FC or an LS or two that you can enlist low level help from. Basically just make good use of the 20ish minutes or so you might be waiting for that queue. Heck sometimes I switch to another low level class to work in THAT Hunting Log or do leves for THAT class. The class that's my primary focus gets all my low level and guildhest roulettes as well.

Well... I mean I would level a 3rd tank if there was another Class available to level... and that would get me back into low level dungeons and roulette and temporarily(?) alleviate the issue. For all of the week or two it'd take people to level it...
People on a tank just outpace other people when it comes to EXP. We can survive fine in FATEs alone, we can clear dailies and leves easily, we have fast dungeon queue times and more EXP benefits.
The roulette itself is counter intuitive from a leveling standpoint because it offers more EXP to less in-demand roles. Meaning the people on Tanks/Healers blast up through levels exponentially faster - leaving a ever larger pool of DPS behind.
Still your point is quoted for truth. Just adding another tank doesn't mean you'll have more tanks... just more variety.
I think they ought to make the roulette give a double bonus to DPS classes so they're not being left behind so easily by their counterparts.
At the start of 2.0 when everyone was leveling anarchist because that was the only job most people didn't have at 50 you could take 4 arc in a dungeon and clear it. had 1-2 people use topaz carbuncle while the other people used the emerald carbuncle.
If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.
I do lowbie DR almost every day on tank, and I've got both at 50 =\ You get a gil bonus if you're at 50 since you can't get xp boosts. This kinda thing, while it might not be enough for everyone, is exactly what DR is designed for. It's to give the lesser in demand jobs an INCENTIVE to do it, xp or other reward.
That's probably why we'll (most likely) never get one.
edit: If a 3rd tank was released, it'd just be an offshoot of the current tank classes and would be insta-50 for anyone who plays tank roles. I doubt if people that don't want to tank would be drawn to....another tank job. Sure you'd have a few that would, but from sheer tank/healer/DD ratios, not much would change. A tank is a tank is a tank is a tank after all.

I like the suggestions in other threads about making dungeons that takes 3 or more DPS with 1 tank and 1 healer. That 1 or more DPS that will be placed in a party with the same amount of tanks and healers.
I don't think the extra tank or healing classes would help for the reasons other posters have said (though I'd like to see them anyway just to play new classes!). I agree with the responsibility thing, the only thing that's going to lower DPS queue times is to either somehow get more people queuing as tanks/healers (Extra tomes? Guaranteed drops? It'd have to be substantial and not just a new mount like I heard SE was floating) OR let more DPS in groups.
Unless you somehow have dungeons without tank or healers being necessary, we have an obviously large discrepancy between available tank/heals and DPS that's only going to be solved by making DPS slots more available by either increasing the slots or reducing the amount of people queuing as DPS by sending them tank/heals.
I don't see why not. Do you somehow suffer by people levelling up faster? Do you enjoy fate/dungeon grinding a non-story DPS class all the way up to 50 and feel like speeding it up would be problematic?
I like that for most of FFXIV's levelling, if you do the MQ and every single available SQ you'll never be locked out from progressing the MQ....until you hit about the late 30's and then you have to grind out the next half of the level all the way until 50. I'd like those gaps filled in.
