I'm ok with the idea of Leviathan dropping ilvl90 weapons - IF they sneak in an upgrade for the Relic weapons this patch, since they're meant to scale. Push the Zenith to an ilvl100 level. Yes, this would put them above the Allagan weapons. However, no reason they couldn't add ilvl105 or so weapons in turn 9 to appease the desire to clear the harder content.

And before anyone thinks that maybe I'm just lazy and don't want to pursue Allagan weapons or such and want to stick to the Relic, a couple points on that.

One, relics were supposed to be the top tier from the beginning, they are meant to scale as well according to Yoshida.

But even so, I would like to see some content that requires special weapons that can only be earned by other content in order to complete it. Think of a special dungeon or type of boss that is completely resistant to damage from any "normal" weapon and can only be damaged by a certain type of weapon instead. There's a particular FF I'm thinking of that's similar to that thought but I can't think of the title at the moment.

No they were not.

Relics weapons were meant to complete your AF set and be the primary weap for Coil. Turns 1-5 was designed around the assumption you have relic + full DL. It was just another stone in the path of progression nothing more.

Relics along with Allagan weapons will be obsolete and the Leviathan weapons will probably be the introductory weap going into coil2.

Relics.. "+1" or "Zenith", w/e people want to call it will be upgradeable aaaall the way up. So "Zenith" is the current Stage, but not the last one. There was an Interview about that actually... have to find that as well..

No, Look up what Zenith means. Relics are not getting upgraded anymore, they are just a stepping stone to the next weapon like all other weapons and gear in this game.

Yes they were. Yoshi said before that Relics would always be upgradable to be with current content because they're required a quest chain/ were a bit of work.

Post the dev statement saying relics will get more upgrades. Until then I'm going with relics aren't getting upgrades.

here you go. he also said something about being able to upgrade them multiple times when the quest was introduced in 1.0.

JOL : About the relic weapons, we didn't hear about them for a while. Let's say, one day, you raise the level cap, and then weapons will become useless. Will they be upgradable?

Especially because we ask players to go through such a huge challenge to get the weapons, so we don't want to introduce something new and make your efforts go away. We will definitely have an update, it really is a special item.

New Patch > New Gear > Old Gear gets excommunicated route basically.

Leviathan should drop the new top level weapons, this game doesn't need another King Moogle.
