I have to digress and say "nay" to that specific idea.

But a world event would be awesome. Once a month, maybe once every two weeks. "X" amount of players (50-75%) need to get "X" action done and those that actually got it done (not just partially contributed like the FATE system ranking rewards) would get whatever item, gear or Gil reward. Or one-use summon of a primal for a battle in or out of a dungeon for each player that contributed as above. Time frame would be four days, both weekend days inclusive. Can be completed earlier.

If the full required percentage of players didn't get it done, no one gets anything.

Change percentages required depending on average total completion for that world during said world events. Eg: if average of 55% only contributes two events back to back, then make it 55% to complete. Raise or lower as statistics shows. Or have same reward not won added to the next event reward for more incentive. Etc.

    Bring on the world events!

Oh how I miss the days of riding seamlessly into a dungeon with a guild to do a raid. Instancing has taken a lot of the fun out of MMOs...
I disagree. Instancing has changed the kinds of fun to be experienced in MMOs. Furthermore, riding the same roads repeatedly neither furthers exploration nor constitutes as fun for most players, which is why most MMOs are going away from that route.

There just needs to be some horizontal game play ideas and gear put into XIV so people don't suffer from linear mind-numbness.
Camping and long spawn times are reasons to play? Seriously?

    OP,

    1.) Aetheryte*

2.) If you really want to talk about stone age...let's force people to go by foot. No mounts. No airships. Like the very beginning of 1.0.

    I like that idea.

a POP NM system like ZNM would be great. Lots of opportunity for this that could stimulate the crafting and gathering economy while providing an opportunity to revisit old content, underused zones and pull in more group activity outside of raiding.

Items can be dropped from certain fates and crafted with quested items. This pop item would summon a low level monster which would give you a seal upon defeted. That seal is used for the next objective to obtain a higher tier of pop NMs to chose from - or another "path"

Imagine if a requirement to pop an NM required a quest seal, a fate drop, a gathered item, and a crafter to meld the item together. This gives purpose to all disciples in the game and wouldn't break the economy or create hostile competition.

That titanic sawfish would make great bait for some high-level fight, and the HQ might improve your drop rate

Would you be ok with that ? Maybe a large world sized community quest to get them up and running again

    YAY ?/ NAY ??
This already happened. It was called "A Realm Reborn"

Atomos consumed all the aether in Eorzea just before the decent of Dalamud. The reason you now pay gil is because that is going towards the cost of the repairing of each aeytherte camp. Before you had "Anima" which would generate slowly or you could to hamlet to replenish it.

This is not going to be changed i wouldnt think so anyway.

They were for me. I love NM camping. I would gladly camp NMs in XIV if they added them.

And because of this the NM spawn time in old XIV was around 5-10 minutes if the weather and daytime was right. Or would this be also too long?

It would if there were several groups there wanting to kill it.

game isn't much pre 50, and 50 exists in a PF window, or waiting for next dungeon to pop. I can't see the good this change would bring, except make the mundane levelling process infinitely -more- mundane.
