I don't know about you, but some people are actually really good at creating character stories and backgrounds. It wouldn't be hard at all to come up with something that makes sense.Thinking from a lore perspective, adding in any new races makes no sense. The non-tempered beastmen and the human races are on shaky terms at best (with only a small handful allying themselves with the human races), and there are many more that have been tempered that are always hostile. Introducing any new races would require heavy explanation of where they came from, why Eorzea is somehow allowing this new race of people to march through its lands completely unchecked, and why members of this new race would be willing to fight under the Eorzean banner against Garlemald.
Except it honestly would - Read the backstory on Mandragoras for example. It literally states they crawled out of a hole after Dalamud's descent. That's so creative and fits them into the lore perfectly! New Races are finicky to add, especially if purely beast like, say Bangaa. The only race that'd largely make sense in current world would be Gria because while Ishgard despises all thing Dragons, when in FF history has it not been seen where unlikely pairings happen? One of the most popular Female Character in FF history is a mix of an Esper and Human.
What this means is, Gria could easily be explained...easily. Viera and such though? They'd have to work some magic to explain why unlike 1.x lore, they suddenly exist.

I don't see why people miss how blatantly Ishgard is being setup for the "Save them from their evil church' Trope. Dragoon talks about restoring peace between people and dragons. LW out and out uses a Real world Nazi reference when describing working for Ishgard. The Main story talks about how the Dragons were pushed by Ishgard first they are striking back.
