Future Races for FFXIV

Padjal will never be playable simply due to their lore... They then become effectively a servant of the forest and thus have little to no freedom to how they live their lives... Thus a padjal could never be an adventurer - adventurers come and go as they will and thus if a padjal tried to do just that. the forest would literally spirit them away back to the Shroud. So yeah, padjal would never be a possible player race I'm afraid.

Whilst I completely agree it will never be a playable race, I got the opinion from the White Mage quest line that the Padjali aspire to be a little more like A-Towa-Cant, who very deliberately travelled the world (or at least, Eorzea). He wasn't an adventurer, but he definitely had adventures!

It would be most likely (and only natural) that the Padjal are going to be playable. After all, body-wise they're Hyurs, so it wouldnt take a lot, or -any- coding to have armor fit on them and such.

Personally looking through Limsa, there are a lot of (friendly) Mamool Ja travelers and merchants there for no apparent reason. Qiqirn and Goblins too. While it would be an absolute PAIN to code armor for Mamool Ja, Qiqirn and Goblins, basicly having to redo EVERYTHING, i'd love to play as either three of them. But since they have no allegiance to any group, it would be very unlikely.

But the thing that would interest me the most are mixed races. You cant possibly make me believe that over the thousands of years the lands of Eorzea and the people that came there are old, there wasnt any inter-species things going on. I mean, just look around in town with actual players. Elezen x Miqo'te couples, Roegadyns and Lalafell couples... We could have a lot of fun having mixed races.

To find out if it's a fetish at all, we would have to ask people if and what they find sexy/attractive about catgirls/bunnygirls.
I'm not too optimistic to receive serious answers tho.

My point was mostly its a thing and we should probably leave it at that. Some people like it vanilla, some people like whips and leather, some people like cat ears and tails and bunny girls with cute puff balls on their tush.

As far as gaming conventions go, I tend to gravitate towards characters that are dexterous and agile. When I played FFXI went for the race that was supposed to be synonymous with that (Mithra.) When I started FFXIV I remade my character but after getting tired of seeing her deformed (see the butt thread) I fantasia'd to a Lala for the cuteness factor and fierce adorability.

The whole animal girl trope is a take on their personality and physical traits. Those who are independent, athletic, and carefree are akin to a cat. Others who are quiet, leggy, and agile a bunny. There's been just as much trope of canine (fierce, loyal, and a bit dense) people as well.

It probably goes back to some tribal thing from prehistory we don't really remember but its ingrained in our subconscious.

Vieras are very popular too but seeing as they have a male and female version of every race, I doubt they will make it ( just imagine a male Viera haha )

its pretty widely believed that Viera are going to be a future available race in the game.

I think i'm the only person who doesn't like this race...at all, i really don't know why..they just don't appeal to me...and i play a kitty Miqote which playing that furry race you would think it would appeal to me.

Padjal on the other hand...yes please!...or Gria...anything humanoid looking with horns is fine with me.

padjal seem most likely even with lore issues, they can easily give reason to a padjal uprising and the race itself wouldn't require a lot of work to put in (as others have stated above).

also would be the first race that characters were within the childhood range of looks (I don't count lala's they all look like stuffed animals young or old ;P), something that most RPGs love to do within the numerous characters usable in a party (notice how there is always that one kid party member that can fight with the older characters!)

all these things lead me to strongly feel padjal as the next playable race!

A-Towa-Cant was an 'adventurer' of sorts.

However you're entirely right, they won't be a new race... They're Hyur!

I'd love to play as a Garlean eventually. I'm not interested in their physiology, and I doubt we'll actually get to pick them (We've got Hyur already[Too similar]) but can't wait for Garlean x Eorzeans vs Ascians.
