As if there was any choice in FFXI? Anything less than perfect in that game and you were considered a bad, meaning you get to keep farming sky for three years after it's been out so you have that best in slot gear for that one weapon skill.

And this is different than any MMO how? If you don't have the best gear now your considered bad. Find me a SMN running around in spell speed armor and lets have a discussion on what the general community thinks of this person.

You know the difference between XI and XIV? Your going to have to totally replace every slot every 4-5 months because that gear is now totally invalid. So when you spend 4 months farming those BiS legs and a week later they are worse than group gear. Come back and tell me how you feel about this subject.
