Because people are too anal about them not updating the game everyday with massive amounts of content.

Vanadiel tribune didn't pull people away from the game to read. People read them when they weren't on the game. I understand you're trying to be cynical and pessimistic about everything SE does, but this isn't exactly new for them and it worked just fine till people stopped reading it and they discontinued the comics and tribune.

This and only this. I wish they would give us patch notes and patch release dates like a month or two in advance so then I would only come to this sight once in a blue moon.

I'm so board of the game right now id rather not log on to wait for that moron to pop to hear that info... right now id rather just come here, read it, then go on about my day. If the game was worth playing, I would agree, having the info in game (as well as on here for people who cant always log on (like people who are at work )) would be a fine idea. Even the guy that pops in and out of town would be just fine with me.

    Wrong.

If you're going to do newspapers, having them in-game is a good idea, but they should also be posted on the Lodestone. I don't play FFXIV anymore because it's a terrible game, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to follow its development on the website.

And even if I did still play FFXIV, I wouldn't be playing it 24/7. Reading the Lodestone can be done anywhere.

    XI, this is not.

Did they not learn anything? (Bolded part)

Square should want you to log-in, they should only put very little information on the post they shouldn't be stories. As the ultimate goal should be for you to log-in otherwise anyone who hasn't purchased the game can read it if you consider these things events.

They did, since the only reason people stopped reading it is because it wasn't a source for patch notes, so it's actually not their fault people don't care for anything beyond what shines they can get, even though most tribunes gave info on upcoming avatars summoners could use because it's lore behind it.

Then again...we are playing an MMORPG and lore is forbidden.

what baby steps are you talking about? like i said (as well as caerith) some people don't want to be in game to read about upcoming changes and progress. I would say having it first on the lodestone then putting it in game, if anything, is a baby step sir. I'm sure there are MANY people like myself who aren't logging on but are checking The Lodestone for updates.

The Lodestone has a significant advantage over the Vana'diel Tribune. I always read it through POL itself, which meant logging out of the game, and navigating POL's menus to find it. It was a pain in the ass to read. I hear it was available on the POL website too? But I didn't check that POL website that often, not until the later years, and I certainly didn't know the VT was on it back when they still published it.

Lodestone, though, I know about. Most people who play know about it. Since that's where we go for patch notes.
