My static are going to continue doing the enrage method to clear Turn 2 because we can. So are many, many others. My gear has been obtained the cheap way and my static took the easy route to Turn 4. I'm a terrible, terrible person for playing the game the casual way and I'll make sure to drop all my ill-gotten loot to make you feel better about your own achievements.

Or I won't because I, every other person who employs this method and even THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM don't think there is a problem with it.

No game can be "utterly meaningless" to a person who spends time on and even pays for playing it.

People are free to choose what matters to them, but I don't think putting "Slays a really mean dragon in a video game most people haven't heard of" on your resume is going to be doing you any favors. If you want to determine your self worth by what you accomplish here, hey that's cool, and I won't stop you, but keep in mind that most people aren't going to see it as anything more than a frivolous time expenditure.

according notes for the emergency maintenance earlier it seems they fixed turn 2 so I don't know if that applies to the enrage or not.

It must. As others have said this is more of a version roll back than a patch. Anything done to the AI in coil was probably reverted to what it was in 2.15

All I have to say on the subject is that there was over reacting from both sides of the aisle. 'Tears', 'butthurt', I mean really? I've done both ways and really it all comes down to the company you keep and availability. And turn 2 is really the only instance that gets this royal treatment. I don't see people shitting the bed over jumping on trees in AK before it was patched, or the way people apparently do Chimera to avoid having to silence anything. Even in the temple of Qarn people have found ways to avoid the doom mechanic, but its always about Turn 2.
Which means its probably about the gear, and the fact that Coil is still considered the xenith of endgame. I really hope this roller coaster ends in 2.2 or I'm going to lose my goddamn mind.

I don't think anyone here has claimed they define their worth as a person or in anything outside of the game by something they've done in the game. But things people achieve in games have value and meaning within the context of the game and in some cases it can even somehow extend to their lives outside of it. Personally, I don't usually spend my time on things that aren't important to me in some way. I care about my marriage, my family, my friends, my career, my sports, my games and my other hobbies. I don't define my self worth based on any of those things alone but they're all part of who I am. And I have been asked of my gaming experience in job interviews when I was looking for work.

You too care at least enough to spend your time reading these posts and replying. But I don't think that means you're defining yourself based on that. We're here to discuss the game we play and its features, not bring up things that matter to us the most in our lives.

Interesting, for what kind of position and did you eventually get the job?
(To be fair, even though it hasn't netted me my current carreer directly, MMO gaming has definitely improved my personal life as well in some points. But that's something waaaay off-topic.)

It was something I applied for when I was finishing my master's studies, a project coordinator for a government youth work project. Didn't get the job but was one of last two applicants and they contacted me later offering a different position (which I didn't take because I had other projects).

PS: enrage haters really need to find better arguments that they are currently using because beating an horse's skeleton is starting to get old.
