What do you really need gil for at the moment.

Everytime I read rmt shouts and tells, I ask myself after blacklisting them.

So who buys gil, and what are they using it for?
SE even stated that they will look closely where gil came from for housing, so I rule that out.
Buying Crafting materials? I spent 300k on Carpenter 20-50 and earned 350k just by handing in the leves and selling the rest on Marketplace.
Repairs? Normally competition of Dungeons gives enough gil for that.

Buying gear on Marketplace? Apart from "rare" drops that can be sold like coliseum gear and such. As soon as you want to go endgame nothing crafted (at the moment) is worth it to take over Darklight and even less than Mytho or Allagan stuff

So, what is the deal? Am I missing something where I can invest my gil? Or are the RMT just for people that feel the need to have maximum possible gil, just in case they need to buy every HQ vanya they can find for god knows what?

You are simply incorrect that crafted gear is not better than DL. Pretty much ALL crafted gear is better than DL lol... Some crafted accessories are even better than ilvl90 ones. People who think Gil is worthless are generally those who have no idea how to gear appropriately.

I am sitting on 10, 081, 739 gil at the moment (yes, over 10 million) and have nothing (logical) to spend it on. Repairs cost me like 1500-2000gil each full repair - every other day. I can pay for a weeks worth of repairs selling a single random HQ item.

The only thing(s) I buy are tome mats -- but those I buy to turn around into a profit so after the initial cost I just get profits in return. I technically can afford a small house -- but 8 million gil is a little steep for something so pointless (imo). I won't do anything in there, so (for me) pointless.

I'm not fussed though. Most MMOs are like that. If you can make stuff, you don't buy stuff -- therefore your wallet just gets bigger and bigger. My FC are super jelly at my gil but I just ask them what they would do with 10 million gil they cant (logically/beneficially) do with 10 thousand. no one answers

It's a matter of opinion, but judge for yourself. This is what I wear on my BRD.

I90 Hero's Ring of Aiming - 13dex, 16crit 8dtr

I70 Gryphonskin Ring - 9str 9dex 12acc 9skill speed 8vit 12crit 8dtr

The strength makes it a viable ring for my DRG and MNK also. The 8vit has saved my life long enough to hit a LB3 and save entire groups. I will not trade all of that for 4 more dex. I do plenty of damage and out-DPS any BRD I group with.

I wouldn't deck out body-worn in crafted, because that just isn't better. But accessories can be melded to be far better than i70 DL, even comparable to i90. IMO, they are better because of the wide array of high # stats you receive with level 4 materia melds.
