How I feel about content- The point is to get your Allagan and stand in your favorite spot showing it off. Your weekly Myth/Philosophy salary and 100% drop rates don't really make getting gear have any feeling of achievement.
I have multiple DOH/DOL at 50. I don't touch them as I have enough gil to buy HQ crafted gear for every job... Which is moot in itself as I have full DL for every job. I log on 3 – 4x a week. I could play the economy which I do find fun, but there is none.
I have BRD and SCH left to get to 50 which gives me 2 weeks of dungeons to do. So that's something at least.
I could grab a group of good people I know and sell wins, though again why? Gil does nothing and honestly the only person I know interested in housing is my FC leader. I make money after gear repairs in dungeons.
I don't find gear in ARR to be much of a goal. T 1-4 has minimal requirements, EX primals have minimal requirements. You can go from CT straight to winning T5, as far as gear goes. Your performance has more to do with paying attention and either memorizing AOE patterns or having the connection to react to them in time.
I have DPS and Healer geared to do any content I want to run. I started to gear tank but I don't particularly like tanking in ARR.
I don't find PvP here at any cap fun. I don't know anyone I enjoy spending time with that finds it fun.
It just seems I'm not a vertical progression only, gear treadmill per content update kind of guy. Why do I still log in then? My FC is here. Our core has played other games together and we will continue to. This has become STO part 2 for me. I'm just here as this is where my online friends are.
Every month it gets harder and harder to pay SE that $9.99. SE has ripped the need for a group out of the game. They have also removed a large part of the RPG from this MMO. As friends PUG top tier content more and more often, I'll completely lose my reason to give them money.
Tl;DR I'm with the folks that don't find any purpose to your effort.
