How I feel about content- The point is to get your Allagan and stand in your favorite spot showing it off. Your weekly Myth/Philosophy salary and 100% drop rates don't really make getting gear have any feeling of achievement.

I have multiple DOH/DOL at 50. I don't touch them as I have enough gil to buy HQ crafted gear for every job... Which is moot in itself as I have full DL for every job. I log on 3 – 4x a week. I could play the economy which I do find fun, but there is none.

I have BRD and SCH left to get to 50 which gives me 2 weeks of dungeons to do. So that's something at least.

I could grab a group of good people I know and sell wins, though again why? Gil does nothing and honestly the only person I know interested in housing is my FC leader. I make money after gear repairs in dungeons.

I don't find gear in ARR to be much of a goal. T 1-4 has minimal requirements, EX primals have minimal requirements. You can go from CT straight to winning T5, as far as gear goes. Your performance has more to do with paying attention and either memorizing AOE patterns or having the connection to react to them in time.

I have DPS and Healer geared to do any content I want to run. I started to gear tank but I don't particularly like tanking in ARR.

I don't find PvP here at any cap fun. I don't know anyone I enjoy spending time with that finds it fun.

It just seems I'm not a vertical progression only, gear treadmill per content update kind of guy. Why do I still log in then? My FC is here. Our core has played other games together and we will continue to. This has become STO part 2 for me. I'm just here as this is where my online friends are.

Every month it gets harder and harder to pay SE that $9.99. SE has ripped the need for a group out of the game. They have also removed a large part of the RPG from this MMO. As friends PUG top tier content more and more often, I'll completely lose my reason to give them money.

Tl;DR I'm with the folks that don't find any purpose to your effort.

I new I needed to reread a couple things. This is such a well thought out post. I really hope GMs and people of relative influence hear the words in this post. I don’t know how it got left out of my last post.

What an excellent read. You’re right, it was right to look forward too.

I agree with all that. I would love to see achievements mean something significant. Another great post.

    Utmost regards, poo

Thank you for the respectful tone in our post. Sounds like a tight knit group. However, almost every single point you made (some I agree and disagree with) has to do with instant gratification, which is not an unreasonable preference as long as you know that’s what it is. From the sound of your well thought out post, it sounds like you do.

You also say “ripped the need for group out of the game” about a game that cannot be progressed without a group, I find that a little fabricated, but I get what you mean.

It sounds like from your own post you make an admission of no interest in the franchise itself or it’s future. Your only interest seems to be about what you can have right now, so I really don’t have much advice for you sadly.

You sound nice to me, so I hope you stay or at least return, but I REALLY hope people with advanced knowledge about the game get their butts in the suggestion threads lol. Not just in this game friend, but any game you play dude.

This is really the meat of the entire thread isn’t it? Your words are soft spoken yet sturdy. You have said much more than that you’ve posted. Let’s ask ourselves, “to what avail” shall we? Let’s.

I’ll tell you to what avail my friend. Whether we want to admit it or not, we are here from ties that bind. Our personalities differ from one to another, but one way or the other, we share a common bond.

Now, why “content locust”? I meant what I said in a deleted post. “Consumptionist” initially sounded like a mental condition to me. “MMO Hopper” (which I have used) sounded insulting for obvious reasons. I never heard “Completionist” before this thread, obviously the least offensive. Regardless, whichever one is “forumly” correct is irrelevant. Anyone reading should ask themselves why is there a disclaimer to begin with? It’s out of respect, something growingly unfamiliar in not only this forum, but many MANY others. Even though I differ from you, I understand our bond, and try to demonstrate that through action, not talk.

When asking yourself “what would my voice matter”, you should ask yourself “how did they makes theirs matter?”

The toxic factions of not only gaming communities, but online communities in general know their venomous words leave impressions. Look at what a certain poster tried to do to me in the early stages of this thread. Not only did they not succeed, they indirectly influenced me being quoted saying “letters makes words words make sentences we use them to communicate” IN BIG BOLD LETTERS FOR ALL TO SEE xD. What is anyone really gonna think about that? “that’s the rudest most immature thing I’ve ever seen”?!?!?! No. They’ve probably read daintunet b4. They are going to think, “What could’ve been said to result in that? This dude seems harmless enough to me.” It’s because I know the rules, and I know how to break them, and I know how to make them.

The thing these “negative only” people don’t understand is that people do have an innate affinity towards positivity and mutual respect. It makes people feel safe, hence posting something they believe relevant to the conversation. These negative people don’t want mutual respect. They want to intimidate you from saying “I like”.

I have been around the forum block for far too long to let someone like this scare me off. Besides, I’ve proven time and time again that simple courage and level headedness outlasts these people for eons anyway. Their fortitude is weak, and cannot deal with someone that won’t crack and call them names back. Whenever a community “shapes up” and demands satisfaction these people leave, they always do, and the communities become free to influence their game/product in a constructive fashion.

So to that avail my friends. Make your voice HEARD. Not tolerated. Demand that we have our forum regulated. Assist the moderation staff in their endeavors by flagging and staying positive. Don’t leave the forum. This is your house, your place of pleasure, your oasis from life.

I am free, be free with me.

And help me free my friend while we’re at it. He’s logging on more past few days, hope I get to talk to him soon. gnite forum.

    We need sandbox content.

I want to recommend that you read this guy's post again. I don't think he's about the instant gratification. So far, ARR is the MOST instant gratification game I've seen, and yet, we have people that are unhappy with it. From what I read in Yashnaheen's post, there just isn't anything fun. Once you have your favorite job geared out in the BiS stuff, that's it. There's nothing else to work for. To me, that didn't seem like instant gratification. I feel like he's looking for something challenging or fun, and just not finding it here.

The infinite game with content endlessly renewing itself each day will never exist. Nor auto-generating ever harder dungeons and raids, with phatter and phatter loot. :P
I know that there are quite a few long posts here, but I would also recommend that you go back and read some of them again. Not all of the responses indicate that no game will satisfy them. Some of us don't necessarily want constant new content, but content that is worthwhile, has replay value or gives us more options for gear/rewards/experiences. Personally, I was happy with XI all the way until they introduced item levels, I was happy with 1.0, I was even happier with 1.23 and yet, 2.0 leaves me feeling very, very disappointed in the dev team.

EDIT: When I say more options for gear, what I'm specifically referring to is more horizontal options, not higher powered options.

I wouldn't say most people want "too much", but rather, they want something that has weight. Nothing at the moment has any weight, coupled with the fact things get obsolete within a short period of time (short in the sense for MMOs). It's very clear the devs are looking at quantity over quality of content, trying to uphold their promise to pump out more and more content. But to most that voice out their concerns in topics like this one, these people are probably fine with having maybe 3-4 decent raids that have long-term goals and more "umph" to it.

The devs are actually doing very well to meet their theme park style MMO. There's tons of rides, none of which last though.

Just because there is something left to do in the game doesn't mean it interests someone else.

When I say there is nothing else to do in the game, I mean that there is nothing left in the game that I want to do. I'mma get my Allagan Axe, Helmet, and Boots. Then I'm gonna play for another month and take a break until more raid content comes out.

I think I'd be happier if the PvP was worth recognizing as an attractive feature of the game, but it needs a lot of work. It's installment was a huge disappointment for me. The only thing I'm really excited for in the upcoming patch is the removal of the lockout on coil.

    Pretty much.

Primals: HM - EXTREME - ADD MORE
Dungeons - Normal - HM - Obsolete gear, no need to run for myths/philos since you get cap by just doing Coil and some CT.
Coil- Just boss fights, no interesting trash mobs like other mmos. Add more turns.

There's really a lack of creativeness in order to pump out content.

Question sort of pertaining to all this talk....do you have to be in FC to raid or is there a raid finder.

    Yep time sure has changed
And yeah maybe is repetitive and boring but at least for me even the meaningless item was a success for me

After reading through this entire thread what I understand the least is why those that won't do any content unless it has "relevance" even play MMOs? The common theme seems to be that nothing is worth doing unless "my" character reaps some benefit. Said benefit being the next iLvl piece. If that's the only reason to do content then I have to agree, you will never be satisfied. There are only so many shinies a Dev can put out at a time, and they will always be obtained by some faster than the next shinies can be created. There is no sense of community, no sense of being a teammate. So why play an MMO to begin with?
