Actually no, a lot of those games have way better communities than this one. And since a lot of them have pvp and open world bosses a lot of people team up and come together way more than here. There you also have to talk to people to form your own parties.

THIS game is the one that plays like a single player game.

Agreed open world content encourages community. Joining df parties where nobody talks doesn't, even pf can be that way. You can legitamately play the entire game without ever using the chat bar.

@Fayto: It was a 1:1 copy of wikipedia, and sorry to say: it was not about genre! Have a look on MMOG, wait i will link it... You seems to refuse to understand, that "massively multiplayer online game" is clearly definied, but lets come to the point:

You answered to my posting directing to me throwing with dirt...
Therefore you must have known why i was replying with the wikipedia argument...
So you tryed to correct me somehow, special because your sarcastic writing about the "research done"...

My point was to differ between groupplay and MMO, because in FACT it is not the same! DragonFlyy came up with the genre and sorry, but if you really have read, you should already know that MMO was not a genre in its origin, just lately because the mass of such games it had become one - even now it is just a sub-genre and does not count to the video game genres because it always have a "real" genre as suffix, MMO describes only the network build and not the content type!

Well... sorry to say, but you dont need to study networkings or such, just READING wikipedia would have been enough to get BASIC information... and my last reply was because you were in the wrong category of wikipedia - you searched for MMORPG and not MMOG.

Dont missunderstand me here please, you were not wrong and in fact you were agreeing with me - read what you were writing about "interaction" - but because of "how" you have written it and because the History of postings, which was the reason to point that out, I had to quote the correct passage!

The problem with your argument was that you simply told us MMO + RPG = MMORPG, thats not any information at all... I hope I explained now a bit better, sorry for the short answers before!

Off topic, but to be frank, you shouldn't source Wikipedia for anything. You should source one of the sources Wikipedia uses for that bit of information. And for at least the science field, unless it's peer-reviewed, gtfo. Stick with pubmed.

Hopefully that saves some poor undergrad sap.

Since were going totally off subject...

PhD program actually. Peer reviewed is necessary I agree. I'm not writing my dissertation using wikipedia. But snubbing your nose at anyone who cites wikipedia for basic information is outdated. Wikipedia is a great source for simple definitions and basic history on something. And for simple class assignments (example a 5 min Rorschach presentation) wikipedia is a great tool for a quick overview.

Yeah. To me the most epic thing was when you spent 30 minutes waiting for that train to reset dieing constantly and all hope seemed lost. Your home point was in selbina and there was no easy way out and no one around to teleport you to mea etc. Then suddenly a level 75 blm shows up and hops down off his trusty rented chocbo and starts casting blizzaga III or w/e and the entire mob train just melts. He zones into selbina to let everyone know the cost is clear and everyone can come out.

And as a level 10 sitting in selbina your jaw just drops to the floor.

To me, that's what this game is missing, the ability to have that gab of power and to experience that awe and to be the one being awed at.

Really, to me, this game is like "the perfect matrix", if you've seen the movie, the machines made comments about the perfect matrix and how humans rejected it out of boredom at the lack of chaos. I want me some chaos. There are no challenges in this game, just mind numbing grinds.
