uhhh you can do small BRs for small situations, if its a dog pile its because people arent on point. it has more tactical depth than sc, you can do debuffs useful to different party set ups, phys def down, magi def down, tp reduction damage boosts. Also you have to make sure your order is right for some. The lack of tactics is the people doing it, not the system, its fairly strong.
doing BR for incapacitations, etc.
i dont understand what facet you are saying is unbalanced either
BR does'nt work anywhere near as well as wsc and magic burst.
BR is just a dog pile of ws's it will be gone soon enough mark my words so if you think its fixed and like it dont get to attached, like that damn cat that your wife wanted and you didnt so you waited till no one was around tossed the bastard in the car drove a few miles and tossed it out the window , BR wont be around long.

The way BR's are executed doesnt take as much skill as in XI, timing is key as well as the fact that wsc end effects had elemental affinities that added to the strategy of know what wsc&mb elements works best against each mobs weakness.tbh a BR really is just a skillchain.
FFXI Skillchain:
- P1 uses a WS
- P2 uses a WS
- CHAIN (causes an effect)
- P3 uses a WS
- CHAIN (causes an effect)
- P4 Magic Bursts off the effect
FFXIV BR:
- P1 stacks a WS
- P2 stacks a WS
- P3 stacks a WS
- P4 stacks a spell
- BR executes
- P1 & P2's attacks CHAIN (causes an effect)
- P2 & P3's attacks CHAIN (causes an effect)
- P3's attack and P4's spell CHAIN (causes an effect)
Very VERY similar. I think SE originally based this idea of FFXI's SC > MB and tried to make it unique, but a large number of people just didn't buy into it.
weapon skill chains+ magic burst were very well polished and man for me as samurai it was fun being the kinda wsc general having tp all the time i was shot callin big time.
Wow lol sooo many of the things that were fun in that game would have been fun in xiv you dont have to copy/paste but man take a good idea and spice it up.
Why should you feel bad about using a great system from the same company when making a game that kinda follows in the same footsteps.
Fun, games need to be fun, SC=fun and BR's well if you played the game you all ready know...

Thats called strategy and team work it was needed, understood and appriciated in XI, thats what this game lacks as well as so many other things the fact that working together ment more then just mashing the buttons at the same time, you had to communicate with your team to prevail and sometimes that ment not just rambling off ws's at random.skill chains were gimping people honestly. i enjoyed them but to be able to get them off you had tell everyone else to hold thier tp. (not people even involved in the WS) and tell them not to use their tp even longer until the mb lasts. BR is a much better design, but it could use more effects, and special effects or some unique animations, if it worked like chrono cross where certain combos had special interactions, people would love it.
far as the flow of battle, it depended on the battle, but when you got a good partner, doesnt slow the flow at all.
I think strategy is a good thing.
It is fun to have to work together with your friends and knowing that if you didnt it ment you would fail.
This game doesnt have that feel at all.

BR is something you do
SC is something you do and want to do over and over.
Its only rule is you join. No finesse at all among the least of its deficiencies. That also ends up being unbalanced because it has no rules. aka...dog-piling.
It's like telling a group of dancers running from one end of the stage to another. Should they jump should they leap, should they twirl, should they synchronize, nope, nope and nope....just plain old running.
I got a question for anyone. More of a realisation too. How will archer be played once AA is in effect? Unlike ffxi, bows are a main weapon not a sub weapon. Will they change archers AA to not consume arrows? I see this ending bad for archers as Arrows will get consumed more quicker and may run out on iccassion just before we use a attack skill. Same goes for the magic classes, how does AA effect them? Again I ask because in ffxi mages didn't go in attack mode they just stood and cast.
Some stuff to consider.
on the topic of BR, and well the game complaints ingeneral. You guys do realise your asking for a tedious game not a challenging one? Why can't stuff be fun to do with out hours of planing only for people not to listen?
Why do you guys want a sc system like ffxi? They help cookie cutting happen. Since not everyone could sc with everything. With br any combo of attacks ws magic can be part of a combo and there is nothing wrong with that.
Also notted people rarely do Sc anymore in ffxi they find it a waste of time and tedious to set up.
I think they should be working more on adding new quests and story aspects into the game than worrying about redoing the interface. Getting to an endgame should be one of their top priorities since the game's been out for so long and has had almost no progress on the story itself.
