POL features in FFXIV - Also: Item Deliery

Greetings!

So, I am one of those (apparently) rare folks that actually liked the functionality of PlayOnline. It was, above all else, an excellent communication tool for us to have. I would like to see it's functionality added to XIV.

What we need is an in-game communication / mail service so that players can contact each other, even and especially if the recipient is off-line. Also, this system would be the perfect way to add item delivery to the game; a function that we desperately need.

Add these "mailboxes" in various parts of the three city-states, as well as a few aetheryte camps. This relatively small change would go a very long way in bringing the game back up to par, as well as to regain the trust of the players. I can't even begin to tell you, SE, how much your playerbase would rejoice and love you for this.

I do realize that this opens doors for spam and RMT. However, the benefits FAR outweigh the concequences. Spam and RMT can always be filtered and dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

I would much rather they let me alt-tab so I can use Pidgin and Ventrilo, and just let me write letters with an in-game mailbox the same way I can do it in WOW and Aion. PlayOnline was pretty much bloatware.

Er, that's actually exactly what I suggested lol.

No, I'm not advocating another POL at all. Just add it's functionality IN game. Oh, and add item delivery into those mailboxes.
