Once upon a time I argued that Pharos Sirius is a virtually impossible dungeon at lvl 48 geared people. Siren becomes the biggest cockblock in history. People continued to badger the fact "if people know how to play there classes correctly, its doable. Then continued to post all the "people in there party that were apparently i48, like what you see In DF. " I took some of the best people I know for each of there respective roles all rolled in i48.

The zombies on Siren are hard to maintain as another wave is incoming before you down the last one. It truly tests even the best of people at that ilvl. You have to use skills and abilities quite frankly you may not be used to on a particular class. Its not 100 percent impossible for a premade but DF ilvl48 players it definitely is.

The iLv simply doesn't tell you everything. You can have relic or relic+1 and still be i48 with low gear in other slots, or you can have a i40 weapon and higher gear in other slots to up your average, and the difference would be huge. Depending on the gear, you could also probably have a i48 tank who misses half the time, or one whose accuracy is capped in the dungeon. Just one "we did it at i48 and it was hard" run does not necessarily mean the dungeon will always be incredibly difficult for every and any party at i48.

Pharos Sirius simply takes some coordination. The first time i ran it our party did get cockblocked at siren until someone gave up though.

But it was thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. The only thing Pharos Sirius was missing was the 1.0 dynamic music that plays during copperbell/haukke HM

The only thing Pharos Sirius was missing was its opening music playing throughout the entire dungeon

I've always queue'd for DR as Monk, so DPS. I just recently got SCH high enough to queue for it, and I don't have any tanks that can queue for it.

Quite honestly, the last couple times I went in there, I talked the group out of quitting right at the start. The first time that happened, we all decided that we'd leave after the first wipe. We one shot it. the second time that happened, I walked people through it, but kept on wiping at Siren, and never beat it. We probably would have beaten it if the tank had stunned Lunatic Voice. That particular bit of info was not something I was really aware of in the past, but I'll bear it in mind.

The dungeon is easy if you are overgeared. I have not attempted it with everything in the i50-i55 level range, but that actually sounds like an interesting and fun thing to attempt with my FC : make a bunch of i55 weapons, and high level armor/jewelry (i45-i55, all HQ of course) and see how well we do. Since everything else is faceroll easy I should be able to entice some of them with the challenge factor alone.

After another few runs in Pharos, I will say that it is one of the few dungeons where I feel that all the classes are put under heavy pressure simultaneously and continuously, as opposed to things like DPS checks followed by massive unavoidable damage (healer check) etc. Instead it's all happening at once. DPS needs to down adds, large damage is still being taken due to several hard-to-dodge mechanics (for some reason I find it very difficult to avoid Siren's dash even though I can dodge Ifrit no problem), tank needs to avoid pulling Zu into the party (who may be running around like crazy with hatchlings).

Also, I don't kill eggs for Zu. It's just tempting fate honestly. You can down the adds no problem without breaking eggs.

Got another Pharos Sirius run in Duty Roulette this week.
    WHM (me), PLD, BLM, BLM...
We had some wipes, but some explanation was enough to overcome that.

Biggest problem with Pharos Sirius is players expecting to just tank/spank through it like so much else.
It may be tuned a little too high for the items that drop in there, but I think it's fine as it is for the amount of myths that you get for completing it.
Players also tend to forget that you can get gear from a dungeon even if they don't manage to finish it.
Can't beat Siren? Still 3 bosses that drop gear and philo tomes, and more gear may be available from regular chests, so there is always potential for gearing up even if you can't complete the dungeon.
