'Mog Bonanza'-style rewards worth a total reset?

well, it was to me.
with a grup of good friends and skype everything was OK to me, i mean, the only difference between other games and FFXIV is that FFXIV doesn't offer a great varity of ways to get to max lvl, but it took me just as long to get to the max as it did take me in FFXI
but at the same time i've played games where leveling was alot more linear and taking longer to get to max then FFXIV, so i'm just used to it.
all i got to know now is that at the point we get content worth doing, i won't need to go thru the leveling again.

This game needs it, the economy will never recover if it's left like it is right now for one thing but for all the stuff the OP mentionned as well.

The main thing is that we have all payed to play this game, despite the free months we are getting, we have spent all of this time working on developing our characters. To have it reset would mean that we pretty much wasted all of our time and money. The whole point in people playing this game right now is to have fun and to rank to 50 so that we can all be ready for higher level content.

EDIT: And using the economy as an excuse dictates that there is no other reason for a reset. The economy isn't even bad. The only thing going on is that shards and crystals are being sold for less. but everything else i dont think RMTs bother with.

How would a total reset help? I'd just bot my alch up and just sell shards constantly and im sure at least 75% of other people would do same, and then we'd be back to square one.

Yeah, never going to happen. If you're making this suggestion, arguing it is the only way to 'save' FFXIV, you probably haven't realized the consequences of your 'saving' kills FFXIV.

There's no good justification for wiping character data.

So...we have some players in favor (13 likes as of this post) and some strongly opposed...

Unfortunately, a large percentage of the responses consisted of this.

I figured this proposal would set off a bit of butthurt with some players, but my intention was to see if the general forum consensus would find a reset along with a reward system agreeable in any way.

I am obviously in favor of it if it means this game can be fixed without being shackled in any way to the old system. But I also understand that I may be in the minority on this.

Obviously SE would conduct a real poll on the matter before they even considered it, and as far as we know they aren't even close to considering it. So those of you who are seriously bent out of shape over the idea can rest easy.
