    Just letting you know that Shield Oath, Awareness, Sentinel, Rampart or even Morale/Defense (In PvE) does not affect your cover damage taken. You will assume your target's Defense/Morale and take what he takes only having the liberty to block/parry reduce those damage.

    Go ahead and try and Cover that Full PvE Healer and watch yourself getting blown up even with Sentinel on.

    An issue wherein using the Paladin’s “Cover” ability causes unintended effects, such as abnormal amounts of damage.

    I think it is because Cover is bugged, not because Sentinel, Rampart, and Awarness does not work in PvP. It is hotfixed on Feb 05, 2014. I start to play Paladin in PvP after hotfix, and I do feel number of damage transfer from Cover is reduced after using defensive actions. But yes, I need other PvP Paladin to submit their feedback on this.

    The hotfix was because sometimes people would take 0 dmg while cover was active, but as soon as it wore off the next hit would also include all the covered damage. People were getting hit by 5k+ scathes and crap.


    I'm pretty sure you're meant to take the full damage from Cover but I don't really understand why. It's not like if you could Hallowed Ground all the dmg then PLD would be overpowered. Even if you save Hallowed Ground for CC and pop Sentinel/Rampart etc... during cover, the damage absorbed would barely cover (no pun intended) the gap created between PLD/MRD dmg and healing reduction.

    I haven't played PLD in a while but since there have been no major changes since then I assume it's the same. It's clear that the amount of pressure MRD can put on a healer far surpasses that of PLD. That's fine because PLD have by far the best stun in the game and some nice defensive abilities with Cover, Testudo, Flash, and Shield Swipe. However, I remember thinking that throwing Cover on a PVE geared healer was almost worse than just letting him die. He would take so much dmg that we would BOTH die in 10s.

    The original Japanse context in the discussion in regard to Cover bugs basically comes with a lot of unintented effect. Two siginficant one including Cover is not functioning as action is activited by player and unintent amount of damamge increase transferred to Paladin via covered target.

    Start playing Paladin last Wednesday and have played about 300 games. Cover after hotfixed is effective enough to keep both targeted healer and Paladin alive. Within 300 games, unless one of opposite DD is a caster. I havent die from covering damamges from Marauder + Bard + Monk output. Of course I am not very experience yet, if you would provide more specific detail would be great.

    I second this. Most of the time I have to pop Enliven/Sprint just to catch up with a fleeing healer, or worse is landing Cover on an Attuned target which is a complete waste.

    Right, because the three DPS won't immediately switch to you once they see your health dipping to critical levels? Any good DPS knows how to combat Cover: knockbacks to split their target (Mythril Tempest, Blast Shot, etc.) and CC on Paladin. I've also seen you say Hallowed Ground should only be used against CC, which is equally as dumb. There are numerous applications for Hallowed Ground and nullifying a blitz attempt with Cover is one of them.

    Personally I see cover as an ability to catch save a caster if people aren't aware of what it does unless bulwark now blocks hits on behalf of the intended target.

    Although I'm not a fan of cover, I must say that the moment cover goes off, I'm going to target the healer (which wasn't common last I played) because that will most likely remove the paladin from play unless they are both spamming heals on each other and somehow make it out alive, but in that case it's really 1~3 attackers vs Cover's target: caster defense. Now if cover stacks with the move that allows you to toss defense onto another target (I forget the name), then maybe that ability will earn some decent merit.

    If i could only count all the times i've died under cover when i could have done better doing drive by stuns before returning to healer harassment, I'd be rich.

    My prediction: SE will keep war amazingly devastating in PvP so later down the line you must do lolPvE to get PvP stuff... and that will fix the 'lack of tank' issues. /pets cat.
