I miss getting lost in the FFXI jungles and possibly getting killed. It was frustrating but challenging and fun. FFXIV's world is just for looks, there is no suprises, no "oh sh**, watch out" moments. Its all very meh. Stop calling us "adventurers" when the open world provides little adventure. I used to love just exploring a zone, you actually needed to look around and see everything, because if not you could die. XIV you "explore" the world just by staring at your minimap. Autorun to one red circle, then autorun to the next.

I understand that some people don't want a return to a system where you get your face ripped off by an Easy Prey, but it's insane how tame the open world is right now.

I don't even have to wait for my abilities to be usable after switching jobs. I run straight into mobs and if something aggroes I can just call my chocobo and auto attack the mob, problem solved.

It's pretty lame that you can go AFK anywhere in the entire world as a SMN without fear of dying. Titan/Ifrit can easily kill anything that aggroes.

We need something like an area where everything is lvl 90, no chance of killing anything and beyond is a massive mystery, something to do with the empire. Remember the massive castle or whatever it was in v1?

Huge bosses out in the field with a week pop, and basically items in crafting that are soo hard to get most people give up trying because almost everyone can make the top items now.

Test: Go into the open world Castrum, you know, the GARLEAN FORTRESS that's full of Troops and Machines designed to assault cities and see if you can kill any of them solo as any class....

Castrum Novum was how every castrum should be designed - a militiary that can decimate you if you're not careful. Not one who slaps gravity on you and hope you give up. I mean, even Gaius went down like a bi...wet paper compared to his white raven counterpart that actually TRIED to kill you, because you know he was a villain.

    Even in single player games.

Dr. Wily has 1 hit left as you do and he gets you with the most cheap shot in the world and you just fly off the handle because of how BS it was. Or an MMO where you try to do a quest and wander into the wrong corner and get stomped out like you walked into Watts with the wrong colors and you learn your lesson - Games these days are far too forgiving, especially XIV - Take Acheron for example, his "Quake III" move should be used after every AoE ability, every single one to punish people who decided to get caught in it.

    You know, real gaming.

"We want things to go back to how they used to be!"

SE: Okay fine. - restores it to be more like 1.23 with small elements from FFXI-

    -a wild user approaches-

"I liked it better before in 2.0! Change it back!"

    SE: Alright...

    -A wild user approaches-
"This game is lifeless and you all have bland tastes for enjoying it, fix it SE!"

SE: Okay okay... This time we'll take both and merg them together.. It will be much more similar to 1.23 but will have the fixes added to ARR included.

    Thus began the bombardments...x10

"I am tired of partying with casuls"
"Bambi players making topics about how hard content is makes me lol"
"This game is too difficult consider me gone."
    "It's to hot in Ul'dah!"
    "Elitist a derp derp"

    SE: -cocks gun near forehead-

What I miss and what this game is lacking IMO is how huge the world of FF11 seemed, I mean I would LOVE to go explore Eldieme Necropolis, figure out the puzzle doors, maybe run into an NM that provided a challenge. Perhaps it didnt drop anything that would sell, but i didnt care! This is just one example of the HUGE open world dungeons that littered the 11 landscape. Open world dungeons with real exploration mechanics is the biggest thing this game could use, but keep some instanced running of course for casual play. Why is it so hard to provide BOTH these things?

SE seems to be getting enough of this feedback in these forums, now we shall see if they learn anything.

    Just sayin'. ^^
LotRO. Good times. That trend continued all the way to the last content I played. I think it was Riders of Rohan. Exploration meant a lot in that game and taking the wrong turn may very well end up with fangs all over your innards. *cough level 20 no death achievement*

1.23 probably could have sustained its self(or pulled better numbers than it did) if it received a re-release like 2.0 did. 1.23 kept the stigma that it was a 4.0 game and it always was going to be the failure that launch was. I brought up to people during 1.21 about the game and jobs and etc, and all I got was didn't that game get a 4.0 and fail miserably. Negative stigma is very very difficult to get rid of. IF they had turned 1.23 into 2.0 with out this big re release it would have flopped too. Thats why they did the re-release to rid themselves of the negative stigma of there mistake of rushing a game out and getting terrible terrible reviews
