why is that not ok? If it's not discriminatory and you want to have a parade there isn't anything wrong with it.... just a parade version of the valentines day event

You say that now, but it wouldn't be the case, and you know it. As soon as I made the post on the forums and in game, WW3 would break out about how I hate gays, and I'm discriminating....and besides that, it's still not ok. There is NO NEED to shove real life issues into a digital world....unless people are trying to win over the hearts and minds of gamers, and most gamers don't care to begin with or are already supporters or even a part of the community, there's very few actual "gay bashers" in the RPG realm, maybe in things like FPS games and stuff, but even then. It's not like FFXIV is a gay hating game, and therefore, we have to strike back and have parades to show the rights of the LGBT community! There is no "rights" movement going on, because there's no rights, so why then, is it necessary to make things like this at the fore front in a video game? If you hold a parade in your state, it's cause you're making a stand, you're celebrating, but you're making a stand too, against the rights in this country, because they're stupid and unfair....but in game?!?! You're asking me to stand down from what I believe to let you stand for what you believe, which is where some of the impasse here comes from and why people get agitated with these posts on both sides.

There is no "rights" movement going on, because there's no rights, so why then, is it necessary to make things like this at the fore front in a video game? If you hold a parade in your state, it's cause you're making a stand, you're celebrating, but you're making a stand too, against the rights in this country, because they're stupid and unfair....but in game?!?! The same reason people want ponytails, beards, freckles, and other things to show to the community their own self.

The OP can have his event if he wants, it's just a march(and to be fair, marches are made to be attention getting. marches aren't something to be held in shadows and silence, unless you were having a ninja-awareness march.), and it's not made to exclude people. There's that social aspect of the game you are missing. if we shouldn't be socializing and have events, and making our opinions known to SE, then there's no real purpose to the Lodestone.

Funny, cause I am sharing my opinion? But I'm not allowed cause you and a couple other people don't like it? So it only favors you and the crowd that feels like there's mythical discrimination in the game against them because SE is not making LGBT stuff prominent in the game (I swear if someone brings up the V-Day event now I'm going to throw kittens)? As you said, this is the Lodestone, and I am making my opinion known to SE, and the OP, who basically asked for opinions and thoughts on it by not only making it on a General Discussion board, but by saying that he had an "idea" or "thought", which is usually known as "seeing if there's support for it" or "what the general consensus is before going ahead". There has even been gay folks that have vehemently disagreed with what's going on in the forums and whatnot with all the LGBT stuff, but their opinion must be null and void too right? They're not allowed cause they disagree with it.

Another fun retort that was brought up then, I'm going to use here: "if you don't like it, don't read it". Because that's what's being shoveled at those that disagree with the topic.

Lastly, I cannot BELIEVE you just made the comparison to "freckles" and "beards" to someone's sexuality. Wow, way to insult the people you're fighting for there. Hey guys, did you know your sexuality is a cosmetic change? I think I'm just going to ignore your opinions from now on, because if that's the comparison you're going to use, you have literally no ground to stand on defending someone's sexuality that they're born with.

No one is saying you aren't allowed, I'm saying you're wrong in thinking this is a made up issue that doesn't exist. Clearly there has been contention ever since it was hinted that wedding ceremonies could one day take place at the Sanctum of the Twelve, and people felt snubbed at SE's initial response. Couple this with the valentine's day event response; and clearly this is a ongoing issue between the community and the devs: Are same gender relationship references something resevered only for titillating jokes, and programming pronoun laziness, or do they exist?
