This. Isn't that what they said they were aiming for anyways? Not like anyone has any idea of what is possible in the future

No, I actually LIKE the armoury system, This job system is anti-thesis of such a system.I'm not confusing anything, Cairdeas.
Jobs are simply battle roles that the classes are being given. That's it.
At the end of the day, our combat system is still the armory system, which has not changed from day one, and classes being tied to specific weapons are still the crux of it.
You are arguing that you don't like the armory system. That's fair enough. I'm not so sure I even like it. I would have preferred this game to have started from the beginning with a job system like other FFs.
However, I am refuting your notion that THF is impossible because they are making jobs tied to specific classes, which are in turn tied to specific weapons. THF is more than possible in the current system. It will just require that THF either be an added job to GLA to use the current GLA weapons, or they can add another class down the line that uses a different weapon (Because remember, the name of the weapon doesn't really matter as long as it is different) which could then evolve into thief.
Here's another scenario. Imagine that SE decides Thief is going to be a class itself and then it evolves into a job called treasure hunter. The possibilities only go as far as SE has the ability to imagine them.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Exactly. I like how Aion sets their classes up like that from the get-go.
You get four primary classes to choose from:
*Warrior
*Scout
*Priest
*Mage
When you hit level 10 and ascend, you choose a specialized class:
*Warrior: Templar (tank) or Gladiator (DPS)
*Scout: Assassin (rogue) or Ranger (archer)
*Priest: Cleric (healer) or Chanter (buff/debuff and backup heal)
*Mage: Sorcerer (caster DPS) or Spiritmaster (pet class, like summoner)
Of course, when you make this choice in Aion, you're locked into it. We know that won't be the case in FFXIV. We have no idea what the criteria will be to 'unlock' a job, but I'm hoping it will have more to do with classes than weapon type and that each class will unlock more than one. Because there are only so many primary archetypes we can have.

I don't understand how we can be upset about something we don't know 100% about. That's like complaining about the type of meat you are getting on your sandwich when you haven't even entered the shop to pick a meat for that sandwich. I'm going to wait to see what happens. I suggest everyone does this to save each other stress.

I'm personally hoping there is at least two jobs per class that people can obtain. I know that's asking a lot, but I think it's more fair. I also think it would be nice if there were ways to be a certain job over the span of several classes. Take paladin for example, why not be able to use that on lancer and marauder? Or white mage/black mage, etc useable between mage classes? The way they describe jobs, it's like they are simply filters for classes. They block out certain things you can use on the class, but enhance certain aspects of the class alongside job specific abilities being brought into the picture. Why couldn't that be used amongst different classes?

/shrugs i havent seen any of this confirmed 100% yet so who knows but i would rather a more open system than a closed tree system even if it has multiple branches.
Wild speculation wont get us anywhere as it is. We don't know enough about the system to even call it good or bad. All we know right now is that when we unlock a "Job" it follows our current class rank of the job associated with it when it unlocked.
Not enough information to go on yet, so I'll reserve my judgement until we actually see it.
OP...... how about, instead of all this whining, you wait and see how they implement it, instead of basing all your info off a small amount of info, that is most likely poorly translated in the first place.
