I like the game and I will continue playing it, but I understand what people here are saying. I had bad luck on drops and rolls in CT last week and ran it 15 times to get my drop. This week I have not run it at all, and I may not cap myth this week. Does it matter? Maybe a break is needed from time to time to keep the fun going?
I rolled a lalafell second character, gives me a new perspective, literally as i have trouble looking above the grass. Now have a cat for war, lala for magic. Yes, its a stupid waste of time, but play what you like.
Months ago I joined a great LS for new players on my server and I was amazed about the constant complaints about the elitist attitudes of the player population, just like the elitists complain about time wasting, low geared know nothing n00bs. Both groups have people that take it to the extreme.
I quit the LS this weekend after i felt it had become more a chat and rantroom and was just conveying a generally negative attitude about the game. Someone ranted for 15 minutes about how FF ARR forces them to advance through fighting, this makes me think FF seems to have a lot of people that did not know what they got into. I dont know anything about FF games, I play FF ARR cause its a MMO.
As an MMO it holds up so far better than most.

When a game starts to shed subs noticably (servers become emptier outside of a peak hour) then it's a building problem. I've been around enough MMO's to know the signs. It's only natural to want to stick your head in the sand and not want to see what's going on.Sorry. The facts don't support your opinions.

Where are you getting your completely fictional numbers?
Note that it is seeing popularity drops on par with GW2 (GW2 can afford those drops, it's free to play) that isn't a good trend for the future.
Call it what you will, it doesn't take a genius to see that FFXIV is on a downward trend.
Really, if combat were less like following a set pattern, had more random elements, and—at it's core—had more tactical elements outside of repeating the same rotation time and time again, I would probably renew my sub. Happily.
Not true.... some mobs aggro by sound, and not sight, and can be "walked" past to avoid detection. ie: the Undead giant knights in North Shroud, and the long stem plant things that spit those balls at you. I forget their names right now. I guess Ghosts? can't recall right now..FFXI: The mobs were aggroing based on:
- sight (passing in front of them)
- sound (being close to them)
- magic usage (using magic near them)
- HP (being hurt while close to them, for instance undead mobs had this)
FFXIV: All mobs aggro sight. Of course, super casual and easy to understand, but immersion breaking (see all the speed runs that avoid mobs while passing 10 cm behind their back)

Not enough Facepalms
I hate to say this, as I would love random elements, but this is down right funny. Don't take it personal, you just happen to be the last person to mention this. In general, if people can't follow set patterns, what in the world makes people think random elements/patterns is a better idea? Twin wasn't even random and elitists cried it's too hard. Nerf Twin.
You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....
I still like this game a lot, even just after I had 2 catastrophic dungeon runs and a bugged daily. But at my age I'm not expecting perfection any more, from anybody/anything, including myself.
It's just my preference. The battles in this game are too scripted to enjoy. There isn't enough tactical variety to keep combat engaging. Which makes this feel less like a Final Fantasy game and more like your run-of-the-mill MMORPG you can find anywhere else on the market.I hate to say this, as I would love random elements, but this is down right funny. It's not fun for me, even as a Monk, to just run around and repeat my rotation time and time again.

How does scripted rotations have anything to do with Twintania? Stop using that as your scapegoat, lol
Most bosses are 100% scripted, no AI, our own rotations are basically scripted for us too.
Might as well watch a movie if there's little to no control over the outcome besides how well you follow the script.
