So the actual monitor went dark, like turned off? Did it have the power/standby light on it? I imagine you had to "hard boot" the computer (didn't use shutdown, but turned off/on using the computers power button) correct?
Well, it's safe to say that's the cause. You may want to chkdsk /F c: and scf /scannow.

yeah the monitor went dark... so I just need to run a scan? Using Windows 7 btw

It's odd that your monitor would just ... Turn off. To me, that signifies a loss of power to the monitor which wouldn't impact the computer at all (unless you're on a laptop).
If it went blank but could tell it still had power, that would indicate a driver/software freakout and hard booting the machine could have corrupted the panicked file/folder/exe. I would check your drives for any bad files and/or sectors. Also scan your computer for any kind of virus/bloatware/malware/missing dlls or C++ corruptions.

yeah it was weird... the monitor just shut off but the computer was still running. I thought the cable got loose but that wasn't the case. I might consider restoring it back to Feburary 4th if scanning and defragging doesn't work.

Clear your bad sectors before you try a rollback. Don't restore first. You could be in a worse situation than you're in now.
A surge is the only thing I can think of that would do something like that (power supply may have protected the tower, but the monitor could have GFCI'd).

right now I'm running a defrag and anti-virus scan to see if that'll fix it...
EDIT: Okay, so I defraged and did the scan, still not working... Still keeps giving me that script error.
