DPS are always gonna get bad queue times until SE pull something out of the hat that fixes it and i have no idea what that is? but really i think the new dungeon exp is awesome and finally a good place to exp (cos everyone learns their job) someone made a short post saying "get some friends" which is a bit trolly but i can extend on that.. find a healer or tank to level up with.. 2 of my FC members did MNK and SCH together.. i levelled PLD with a DRG.. and if you cant do that just make a PF or ask your FC if they wanna go with you.. i had lv50 FC members come with me to the aurum vale just cos its a fun FC activity

I'd totally spam DF roulette as tank for the 1,000 achievement, while helping que times & and working on my own achievements, if only the general population didn't consist of dbags.
So it will end up being slowly done with friends, because it's not worth dealing with. eloel.
From the 2.1 patch notes:
"The following changes have been made to FATEs: New FATEs have been added.
A FATE's difficulty will now be determined by the number of players who participated in the previous
Enemies and NPCs which are central to FATE objectives such as Odin and the behemoth will now have the highest display priority."
Which part is it that some of you are referring to as FATEs being nerfed?
That the FATE's actually scale now based on previous appearance? So that for example the Svara chain can be done by a single party instead of requiring a zerg?
I've wondered about this as well. I'm usually going as a DD, on this character and on an alternate that I use, and my wait time is generally less than half an hour. I would estimate that my average on entering a dungeon is about 20-30 minutes. I think the worst that I had in recent memory was to wait over an hour in duty finder for Crystal Tower the week it came out, and I actually gave up to focus on other things. The next day, the wait was more like 15 to 20 minutes. But on my alternate character that I am leveling, I just use a combination of FATEs, levequests, quests, and dungeons. My only complaint is just not being able to level my Chocobos while waiting in que for the dungeon finder.
More like that the amount of people added after a single party adds too much of a buff to the actual encounter (especially in terms of HP).
When you have an alliance + 4 or so people beating on Svara for 28 minutes till she dies, something is a little off.
Whichever part refers to FATEs like the one with Roc, which now takes 10+ mins for do with around 10 players, most capped for the FATE: I've experienced this three times now on this FATE alone.
THAT is ridiculous for the XP you get, and repeated in most FATEs, mobs now have insane DEF which makes killing them a trial of patience.
I haven't really touched fates since the change, but if this is really the case, that's ridiculous amounts of scaling. Roc of Ages used to be one where unless you showed up in the first 10 seconds you weren't getting gold. If it's really taking 10 minutes now then they went way overboard in my opinion. . .
This may be a bit off-topic from OP, but I wanted to weigh in on this. I'm not sure if this instance is only relevant towards CT or all dungeons.
I was waiting in a solo queue for CT on Monday with my BRD for 53 minutes. 53 minutes on the reset day. Like others said, my queue time doesn't equate to me just sitting in a town, I am out doing other things. I finished all my beast dailies, mined my map and I think even ran some hunting logs for the GLD I'm leveling when I finally realized "Shit I haven't queued yet." I began complaining in /fc about how I have been waiting for CT for over 50mins with no queue. 2 of my friends who know I have a MNK leveled immediately said, "Are you trying for BRD?" I said yes. They both said "Go MNK. Ranged DPS have a much longer queue time than Melee DPS because noone wants to play melee."
I thought they had to of been joking. It took me a good 3 minutes to decide to drop out of the queue I had been waiting in for an hour. I queued as MNK, and I shit you not I queued instantly. Like 15 seconds. Tank queue. And every time after that if I go MNK for CT it takes me longer to get in the dungeon from in-progress trollers than it does for me to catch a group.
Like I said, not sure if this is something done just for CT or if this is across the board, but this could be a problem people are having with DPS queue times.
Come to think of it, when I was leveling my MNK I never had to wait excruciating amounts of time for queues either.
You call that a nerf?
I call it one step towards how they should have been from the very start.
Next step would be to dynamically scale the FATEs based on how many people actually do it, instead of using the previous occurence of that FATE to scale it.
FATEs are still perfectly viable as a source of experience points.
