I'm completely against starting a 'specialization' at 50, or even 30. If I want to be a specific job, I want to start it from the very beginning.
What is going on here?

wheres the long term goal?
if im 50 already? i wont have to do anything just the quest to unlock them? in FF tactics and FF XI if you had unlocked a job you had to start from level one, that was a good way to keep people busy and interested, and helped the new content to be fresh a longer time, if you leave things like that you wont be able to hold ppl's busy with new content because everyone will eat it as soon as its out. Its not that bad to be leveling jobs/classes you have to go to certain known areas and then when you're at the correct level you can move to those new areas with your new jobs excited.
just my op.
Totally agree with that. I was looking foward to the jobs with great expectations, and once again the result does not live to them. The more it goes the less I look foward to play the game at all.
I am kind of happy, I don't want to level everything up separately. With all of the current classes in the game, and thinking of the potential classes in the game, to have to level them up in addition to jobs, completely separately would be an enormous time sink. If there was more variation in the areas/styles you could level up then I would feel a little better if I had to level them all up one by one, but that is not the case.
If classes had to be leveled up in addition to jobs, I would want to level them up at the same time at least. Kind of like how you level up and rank up at the same time (or gain skill and experience points at the same time). I would have wanted it so if I was a White Mage and had a Conjurer weapon equiped, I would skill/rank/level up on them both at the same time.
This may make some players unhappy, but every decision SE will ever make will impress some and disappoint others. I am personally happy with this, happy that at least I don't have to level everything one by one in the same area over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. And over. I already have to do that with Classes.
I like the idea of changing it to Level and Experience pointsJobs won't have levels and as such won't need to be leveled up. Jobs are an advanced form of the class that unlocks them. So for example purposes, a level 50 Gladiator would be a level 50 Paladin. (Example only!)
Also we can confirm that we'll be changing the term "ranks" (as in rank 50 Pugilist) to "levels" (as in level 50 Pugilist) along with the removal of the physical level. We'll also be changing skill points to experience points.
In summation:
Rank > Level
Skill points > Experience pointsThank you for sharing Bayohne! ^___^
Hmmmm wonder how that works... but interesting... So if they have multiple jobs avaialble for Gladiator... you can be any job at same level but with different skills/abilities/etc I'm guessing... how you supposed to become a expert of one type of job from that without actually playing from ground up?Jobs won't have levels and as such won't need to be leveled up. Meh just need to wait and see when it all comes out and blasts our brains with new exciting stuff that will entirely change the way we look at FFXIV (I hope)

I can see your point, and maybe I am over-thinking it. I guess it will come down to how they fix the classes and their abilities.
Please also keep in mind that there are still many unannounced details regarding the job system and I was only speaking to a specific question that was being asked/was a point of confusion. I suggest waiting for further announcements for more intricate details.![]()
Thats what im saying, i liked that you had to start from square one in every job, if they start giving endgame content to everyone the devs wont be able to give proper content because they'll be always running late because everyone will be dedicated to finish new content because will be reachable, thats why they added in FF XI time sinks with the jobs you unlocked, but not a boring one you had to grind your way from lvl1 to lvl75 and every job had its own taste, so for me it was a good thing to be that much time leveling my job.I would guess that jobs will be unlockable at level 30. That's the targeted level for the lower level dungeons and also happens to be the level at which you can unlock advanced jobs in FFXI.
Personally I'm going to miss having the extra jobs to level up like we did in FFXI, but the way they are doing this in XIV makes sense. I wouldn't have played XI nearly as long as I did if the advanced jobs were merely extensions of the originals though. I was one of those who leveled everything up to at least 30 over the years.
Current plan is one job per class, though.Hmmmm wonder how that works... but interesting... So if they have multiple jobs avaialble for Gladiator... you can be any job at same level but with different skills/abilities/etc I'm guessing... how you supposed to become a expert of one type of job from that without actually playing from ground up?

Except for that time in Tactics when I unlocked Summoner and had enough JP to buy both Odin and Bahamut right away. /devilsadvocatewheres the long term goal?
