Jobs won't have levels and as such won't need to be leveled up. Jobs are an advanced form of the class that unlocks them. So for example purposes, a level 50 Gladiator would be a level 50 Paladin. (Example only!)

Also we can confirm that we'll be changing the term "ranks" (as in rank 50 Pugilist) to "levels" (as in level 50 Pugilist) along with the removal of the physical level. We'll also be changing skill points to experience points.

    In summation:
    Rank > Level
    Skill points > Experience points
    (110)

Good! because I always have to stop and think before using Rank and SP as terms for Level and Exp. I am being serious right now lol, it's so much more intuitive the terms level and exp.

On to the topic, I think the "job" titles will just modify your gameplay and abilities so that you are more proefficient in certain areas at the cost of other, but thats just my speculation. Also, I doubt they will be unlockable only at rank 50 since they are releasing a rank 30 dungeons... would be sad to not have access to party jobs then.

I will also add that I would have like them to be completely seperate and have to level them like you had in FFXI, but apparently that is not the case so no use to say much about it

Thank you for this particular clarification, Bayohne. I can't say that this will make anyone happy (I'm pretty sure it's going to make the majority of players unhappy), but at least it's solid detailed information.

I would guess that jobs will be unlockable at level 30. That's the targeted level for the lower level dungeons and also happens to be the level at which you can unlock advanced jobs in FFXI.

Personally I'm going to miss having the extra jobs to level up like we did in FFXI, but the way they are doing this in XIV makes sense. I wouldn't have played XI nearly as long as I did if the advanced jobs were merely extensions of the originals though. I was one of those who leveled everything up to at least 30 over the years.

Thats what im saying, i liked that you had to start from square one in every job, if they start giving endgame content to everyone the devs wont be able to give proper content because they'll be always running late because everyone will be dedicated to finish new content because will be reachable, thats why they added in FF XI time sinks with the jobs you unlocked, but not a boring one you had to grind your way from lvl1 to lvl75 and every job had its own taste, so for me it was a good thing to be that much time leveling my job.

Any info on what's happening with CON? Is it going to be BLM or WHM? It makes no sense to just give it one of those.

    wheres the long term goal?
if im 50 already? i wont have to do anything just the quest to unlock them? in FF tactics and FF XI if you had unlocked a job you had to start from level one, that was a good way to keep people busy and interested, and helped the new content to be fresh a longer time, if you leave things like that you wont be able to hold ppl's busy with new content because everyone will eat it as soon as its out. Its not that bad to be leveling jobs/classes you have to go to certain known areas and then when you're at the correct level you can move to those new areas with your new jobs excited.

    just my op.

Totally agree with that. I was looking foward to the jobs with great expectations, and once again the result does not live to them. The more it goes the less I look foward to play the game at all.

Except for that time in Tactics when I unlocked Summoner and had enough JP to buy both Odin and Bahamut right away. /devilsadvocate
