Well that is a leap in your logic. I was more assuming that they would bring in a Solder class to the DRK job, with DRK being only one of the jobs. Not sure what a proper Solder "Job" would be in this game. My point was, fans of VII like large swords, and a great sword wielder would draw that crowd in more. However, the "Solder" from VII is something to itself. However on an off topic Cloud Strife is seen in concept art with a single bat wing.

It irks me that you put "Solder", when I imagine you mean Soldier.

Soldier is just basic infantry that uses longswords not unlike many knight swords in any older Final Fantasy game. The only different is the top tier classes of Soldier who differentiate themselves from the other Soldier members of the same class preferred to use their own weapons with Zack/Angeal/Cloud all sharing the exact same sword. Sephiroth using an absurdly long odachi and Genesis using a red rapier.

This leads to the idea that Soldier should just be its own special class rather than be relegated to Dark Knight's stepping stone (ha reminds me of arguments in this thread). The weapon of choice would not draw the FFVII crowd to a class that has very little, if not nothing, to do with the game. It's akin to saying Musketeer, with its pistol use, will draw the same FFVII crowd because of their like for Vincent Valentine.

I am not going to dispute that the DRK could be a tank, but here is a honest question, why would they? Really, why would they bother if we already have this:

It would be like making a 2nd paladin that didn't have spells but looked almost exactly the same and functioned differently. I understand the need for tanks, I really do, I have been leveling other classes and see the need but I don't see how this is the solution. So I just want to know why you think they would even bother? Because we, or you, need it? Do you fear that the DRK will suck like the other melee damage dealers? Please, why?

Dark Tank is a weak argument since it's only 2 sets of armour and Dark Knight won't show up until after an expansion anyway leading to the divergence of this Dark Tank title you've given Warrior.

For example; Warrior AF2 gives no indication to the word Dark Tank


The answer is actually really simple to why Dark Knight could be a tank; choices are limited. There really is no other valid explanation.
