Yeah, yesterday on Balmung every single GX party in PF was no melee. I at least managed to convince one of them that 4x BRD was a bad idea because you kinda want a DPS LB just in case. . .
That's funny, considering BLMs and SMNs perform rather well in GaryX. Especially when the BRD can actually use Foe's Requiem.
You do realize Yoshi-P did say the summoner is still top ST damage right?
SMN/Monks usually top the charts atm but it's all around silly.
Melee population has a higher learning curve, and also a moderate amount of bad players which make for a higher percentage of bad melee.
Hell, I prefer having one melee and one blm/summoner/bard for fights because of such.
But it depends on content. Titan EX? idgaf. Ifrit EX? idgaf. Garuda Ex? if the everyone can change their strategy idgaf.
Just find good players, make friends with them, and run with your friends.
Because it is more difficult to play melee dps. The incentive to not stack melee dps are mechanics that punish that practice. There is next to no incentive to choose not to stack ranged. A group may already have too many melee classes. Because you don't need a single target limit break to down bosses.
There are many reasons. But good melee players push past them.
When people advertise their groups with impossible constraints on them, do not be upset. Instead, feel fortunate that you were not chosen to waste your time with them.
I'd like to see where Yoshi P said this. Then I will look at it and laugh.
SMN is most definitely not top single target DPS. It excels when there are multiple targets because it then has the ability to use DoTs on more than one target instead of spamming Ruin, making for an effective DPS increase.
MNK and DRG are kings of single target DPS by a significant margin when comparing DPS caps. How much this translates to content depends highly on player skill, and given content.

I wasn't trying to say that ranged was incapable of topping DPS. I was pointing out that melee are easily capable of it on most content contrary to what was said by xEscaflownex. Specific content does have a baring on what class excels, but the statement that melee can't top any current content is just mind boggling. You do realize Yoshi-P did say the summoner is still top ST damage right?

Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference.
Umm, you need to learn how to read ACT ha? Your DPS was 223.02, the 377 is the combined total of 3 players lol: YOU, Magic Trix, and A. Branchaishttp://i.imgur.com/4UZnew7.png
There's my DRG for comparison. Sat at 400+ most of the time, when my TP hit 20 with Invig on CD I backed off and it dropped to 377. <_<
Still waiting on other guy's parse tho.
if you want target dummy give me few min I'll go do it, the other guys wanted Turn 5, which resets tomorrow =P

XD! I thought something was off. Was like.. how in the hell is my DRG out DPSing my MNK? But yeah, I'd like to see what you do on a dummy so I can see if I'm being a bad MNK.
