A lot of the tracks are really short, some even less than half a minute long. They were designed to be intros to areas/dungeons and nothing more, hence why it wouldn't work to just make the music loop in most cases. I remember Soken saying that the reason they made it this way was so that we wouldn't get bored/annoyed with the music. I don't think this is a very good idea personally, but at least I can kinda understand the reasoning behind it. The irony is that what we're stuck with instead, is the same generic battle theme (with small variations) whatever we do, so their thought-process kinda backfired in that respect.

It's a shame really. Personally, music plays a huge part in my video game experience. It helps set the mood, and it gives each area a more distinct feel. Final Fantasy games are known for having stellar music, so I really wish they would reconsider their approach to it in this game.
