FFXI actually was the same

Indeed, however XI much like 1.x also had theme specific music, I mean, music like this would have sounded amazing on the PS3/PS4/PC setup:

Quite honestly, as said, all music gets repetitive after awhile, but compared to 1.x, ARR's music doesn't really feel like "much" went into it and the ones that did you hear for barely 30 seconds or so. That's why I feel they went into the right direction with P.S's music and it goes with how they said as you progress the music slowly gets more intense till you reach the final boss, but ...well, yeah.

This idea has been passed around the threads every now and again. You'll have your haters and supporters. I personally would love the option to turn off all battle music without having to go into my settings every time. Just like you can with mount music.

I would LOVE it if I could hear Upper La Noscea's music in every corner of Eorzea. Gosh its just so amazing. The beginning of dungeon music always plays to its fullest even if a battle has started. And I love every single theme. Would be neat if they expanded those themes and have them loop (like others have suggested). Outside of dungeons : Would be neat to turn off battle music and just have the area theme play! But until the official soundtrack is released, can't really do that

Wow, at LEAST we are getting music while the players of swtor don't get *nothing* just silence unless they hit something to turn on a clip that would play for 25 seconds and it turns back off.
