I honestly think the funding for this game is extremely low(its not making money, thats why) thus the dev.team is smaller than what it would need to be to put out fixes/revamps faster to keep the players interested. I think anything this new dev team adds they have to put extra emphasis on if its cost effective, which makes it slower to roll out the changes/content.

I believe FF14 is just a "see what you can do opportunity" for Yoshida, I would love to see him produce an MMO with the proper funding and proper size dev team because I think he has the idea's and he is no doubt an up and coming star for SE's future MMO endeavor's.

I think at the end of the day, this game is going to shut down. The dev.team can only do so much with the funding they have been given. SE can't just add 40things per patch, it has to fall within the budget allocated to FF14 which is why we're seeing slow progress because it has to be broken up into multiple patches to meet budget requirements.
