I like playing for the music... the social aspect... entertainment.. that's all it is to me.Think about it, why even bother playing a game if there's no thrill or sense of accomplishment? It doesn't have to be getting the best gear in an RPG, it can come in almost any form, be it a hard-won match or maybe discovering an easter egg hidden by the devs. No one has the right to crap on others for wanting some sense of accomplishment, however small, in their efforts. Its what ultimately makes games fun and worth playing and when you start to diminish that as a developer you're effectively cutting the legs out from under yourself.
Don't know, I still try to play mostly for fun, that thing people used to have sometimes in the past, before games were all about gear, delusions of grandeur and treating other players like dirt. :P
The past is still the same as present. Nothing has change. No idea why people keep getting this "treating players like dirt" thing here. It happens just as much or more in casual games by casual players.

There is plenty of sense of accomplishment to be had from XIV as it currently exists. You're the one who's crying and whining that the game isn't exactly how you want it to be due to vertical progression (which every other MMO has).Think about it, why even bother playing a game if there's no thrill or sense of accomplishment? Really Tupsi? How pathetic is this! Do you even understand what you're saying? Do you want the game to end once you've gotten your shinies? What would be the point of continuing to play if they never introduced better gear?Hmm.......
I guess if you're easily satisfied, I suppose. "Yay I got my shiny new wea-...what that? You mean it's obsolete when you update the game next week? Well fuc-"
Yep, I feel very accomplished having everything I work for go obsolete just because they update the game, then again they are pandering to the playerbase that honestly doesn't "care" about the MMOs they play.
I'm glad they are pandering to a real playerbase, made of millions of players, and not to the 1% that believes that only they are entitled to reaching the end in endgame. The attitudes of elitists is downright sickening.

Whoah. Doesn't "care"? Please define care- because it seems like a pretty narrow definition you are using. Plenty of us "care" about the health of the game and our enjoyment of it- some of us have been MMO players for almost 2 decades, and we are done fighting the hamster wheel. No matter what, your "trophy gear" becomes obsolete... some of us have just accepted this and moved on, and play for general enjoyment.
Believe me, after 20 + years of getting high end gear and seeing it made obsolete, you finally figure it out- nothing lasts forever and it's just a game. You start to learn not to take things so seriously, or maybe just get older and change. Regardless, it doesn't mean you don't "care" about the game. I just don't "care" about what some players consider an "accomplishment".
Or lets put it this way- I care about as much about who killed Twintania first as you care about the world first kill of Quarm. Get it? In a year or two no one will remember or care. There's no class in school where people learn the History of MMO World Firsts... because no one cares except the few people trying to get it.
