PS3 to PS4

Because of how you claim a digital copy of XIV on your ps3 with your code.. I'm going to assume they'll be using the cross buy feature of the ps4. Kinda like how ppl who purchased Flower for the ps3 got it automatically for free on the psn in the ps4 store.

The beta is just meant to be on the store for all ps4 owners on the 22nd of February.

I think your account gets upgraded to PS4 in that you can't play PS3 anymore. Which could be a problem if your PS4 ever broke although unlikly

i'm sure it would be still possible to re-register the PS3 version with a new copy

What if you upgrade for free but later buy the PS4 game could you ever go back and play on ps3 if you ever need too?

But i'm thinking about getting CE for PS4 missed it last time for PS3 and 2 new in-game items

Why would you buy the PS4 version after the upgrade? just buy the PS3 version again.
For CE, you can upgrade your standard account into a CE account for around 20$

That does bring up a good point. If I do alot of traveling and would rather go with my PS3 can i buy the PS4 version and play on both?

I wait eagerly for information if there will be an import option for the files that are stored on your PS3 locally. I lost my configuration file once thanks to one of the dozen PS3 freezes FF14ARR caused. To my surprise, I found out that the data contained information about all my characters (skills and items), changes I had made to the UI settings and also each macro I custom made. I thought this kind of information is stored on their server but it is actually stored locally on your PS3. It took me over 2 hours to redo everything and wasn't a pleasant experience.

So my big question is, can I copy the config file from PS3 over to PS4 so I can just continue to play or will the interface be so different that an import is no option and everybody has to setup everything from scratch.

maybe with PSN+ if the format of the save file is compatible with PS4

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the PS4 version would be more PC like. I don't think we'll have a real answer until the beta begins. I don't have a PS4 as of yet, I started on the PS3 but play on the PC now. Maybe they could do something for Plus.
