implying that causal players dont stick or continue to pay a sub for p2p mmo. fun fact, i am a causal player that still have a sub for 2 p2p mmo (eve and swtor) and dump 50+ dollars on a f2p game monthly (sdgo) all while paying for this. tbh, when you are looking at this forum, all you see is the "hardcore" and legacy threatening to leave...while the dirty filthy casuals you seem to despised, arent even considering to leave for wildstar, eso or eqnext.

Nothing wrong with playing casually, MMO's are meant to be enjoyed at whatever pace you'd like, but there is a good number of people who want/expected more and were left with a sour taste in their mouth after 2.1.
That's a fair point, but at least here on the forums you only see the hardcore content raiders and the 1.XX players singing doom and gloom, not the casuals (that word again... I'd say someone who burns through the game and only logs in to run Coil on Mondays is a "casual" player.) But yeah, you raise a good point there.

EDIT: Astrobear beat me by seconds.

Another thing is that the people who are "Hardcore" for doing high level content often pass on that knowledge to other people and help other people with it. People who are "Hardcore" tend to fall into three groups with most in the middle. Elitist Jackasses Helplessly Helpful and then the other mostly fall into the "Holy crap I managed to get to cap level and get this stuff down!" who don't really think of themselves as "hardcore" because they just progressed with a group of friends that they made. Most the people you would deem "hardcore" fall into that last category.

And the reason you don't see a lot of casuals talking about leaving is because most of them just don't care enough to talk about it. They unsub and then don't log on anymore. They don't care enough to even bring things up that others will quickly try and slap down because they feel they're being insulted or the game that they choose to play insulted(Because that means you might be wrong or that because someone is farther along than you that they must be hardcore assholes looking down on your not as good casual self). In this case it is neither. I'm simply pointing out the problems I see. My experiences with the PS3 crowd. I even said not ALL of them. But for me and the people I know it is a reoccurring thing. A trend if you will. My friends list is increasingly barren for one so large. There are so many people on it that just don't log in anymore. That is also a personal experience. I have people trying to get me to quit this game to go back and play other games. That is also personal experience. Everything I've posted are my own feelings and what I've noticed from playing MMo's over the years. Disagree or don't I don't care all that much. But the fact that at least some people agree with me means something. The fact that so many people are able to disagree with me without giving much to support their arguments also means something.

I really had to stop reading at "toxic"...

Seriously, what is this forum's obsession with that word?

Nice to see you supporting so many games. I'm willing to bet you pay for them because you play and and enjoy them still, and find the content worth paying for right? You more than likely play at a very slow pace and enjoy the game because you feel there is a wealth of content ahead of you. Checking your lodestone profile you have one DOW class, it's level 11. Your blacksmith is level 20. To put that into perspective I leveled my botanist more in one day than you have combined levels. Of course you're going to say this game is great if and will continue to play it because you have little to no time invested in it and enjoy it casually. I bet you'll pick up wildstar and try that out and eve TESO too, which isn't a crime but I feel like you're missing the point that is being made. That being said I don't fault anyone who currently "likes" or is "happy" with the game so far, but they are usually the ones who haven't put a ton of time into it.

Probably because it's fairly accurate? People saying that they have every right to your group because they pay, or getting someone banned because they called them out on their low damage?

Oh please there has been an abundance of threads made the casuals complaining about the toxic player base, content too hard and threatening to leave. Personal favorite 'nerf coil so I can see the story that follows after beating it'

Its ironic. SE caved into every casual gamers' desire with Seekers of Adoulin and the game went from 2-3k people per server during prime time to 400-600.
The people that left were the ones who had played the game for a decade and had a lot invested into their characters. When SE hit the reset button, most took at is as an opportunity to quit. The majority of which would be classified as Hard core players.
Now the casuals who are left in XI wish for the days when trailblazers were around to breath life into the community.

I for one dislike the obvious lack of community. What was the point in introducing these massive population capable FCs when there is no content that an Alliance can do together or content that supports it. Unless by some stoke of luck the 3 parties play the queue to get into CT together. Bring in alliance content. And can someone explain how alliances cannot be introduced because of PS3 limitations? I would love some elaboration on that Thanks
