Those cross over events were just...sad...

I had big hopes as a still on-going FFXI player for this event, but it was dull on every aspect. No voice acting of Shantotto (hell, even just the laughter during the fight would've been good. You allow Haukke Manor maidens to cackle but not Shantotto?), no real story, and more than everything, I had hoped to get the FFXI Race Specific Starting Armor as a reward.





Why couldn't you put as much effort into it as you did for FFXIII LR, Yoshi?

She's much more important of a character if your FFXI character had been Windurstian, from what I remember. I was San d'Orian, though, so I didn't really care much about her. I noticed SE tried to make her more of a figurehead of FFXI sometime after CoP and put her in non-FFXI things like the Dissidia games.

I think they honestly missed a cool opportunity to thank people who had played both games... if Shantotto's quest had referenced the fact that you had a character in FFXI, or if she had given you a special item for having played both games, that might have felt more rewarding.

They're little promotional side events that are more and likely going to be one time only (with the Lightning event being an exception, being two times only). I'd rather they not spend too much developing content that'll be around for two weeks then gone forever.

That being said, I hope they put more work into seasonal events that will happen every year. The Heavensturn event was pretty good, and the Halloween one was ok. The Starlight and summer one could've been better.

I also don't mind getting just a minion or maybe Chocobo barding for it. I don't need more stuff to cram into my already crammed inventory.

Well, the content they have released so far isn't going to last much longer than that I'm afraid.


EDIT: and while shantoto was an ok idea, an even better idea would have been to use Aldo, Prish or Tenzen.
I can't imagine ANY FFXI fans disagreeing with a Tenzen appearance.

As much as I love Lion, I somehow feel like she's not fit for the part of a crossover character. Unless multiple characters were tossed in.

I still think the two greatest FFXI icons are Prishe and Shantotto. I really would have loved to see Prishe in HQ though...
