i think dungeons and AA are the main plan in this patch, from the letter's text. Not sure why they didnt show any dungeon stuffI really sincerely hope you're right...but boy does that producer letter make it seem far from likely. Sure sure, I know you already linked to the other letter, and those quest hubs would be simply amazing (especially the goblin mines). However, when you have something so flashy in the works such as the hubs and heavens to betsy an actual dungeon, then release a video showing neither of them....well you'll have to forgive people for assuming they're pipe dreams. Either they're not coming out anytime soon, or the communication is just that horrible...but either way it's not how it should be handled.
It's been a year. We're restless. Give us a reason to believe in you guys.
Because in the letter Yoshi states: "as promised in my previous letter, today I’m going to give you a progress report on auto-attack."
This is in THE FIRST PARAGRAPH. That was ALL the letter was going to be focused on from the start. We have been given teasers of the quest hubs and the dungeons already in other letters and this time, he wanted to focus on Auto Attack. Sometimes we get an letter that focuses on broad changes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...805-20-2011%29, and other times we get a letter focusing on just a teaser: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...805-02-2011%29.
I don't see how this is so SHOCKING to the community. It is the same MO that Yoshi has picked up since the very beginning.
your a little defensive. He never said hubs would be in place by 1.18, he said its coming soon. I understand they wanted to do the AA video, but i think people would have enjoyed the dungeon video. He goes out of his way to say the priority of 1.18 is the implementation of AA, he also mentions dungeons, and it taking more time. I just think its a little optimistic to think there will be much other content besides what they actually said will be in place in 1.18. It could well have hubs, but there is no text that says hubs is planned for 1.18, and there is text saying that AA is the focus of 1.18 and that they still have to work on one of the dungeons, so that much is likely.Because in the letter Yoshi states: "as promised in my previous letter, today I’m going to give you a progress report on auto-attack."

Defensive? No. Frustrated? Maybe. My post wasn't targeted at you by any means, I just used your post as a jumping on point to the conversation. The point I was trying to make is that Yoshi often gives us a "progress" report letter where he focuses on one main item, just like he did with the AF gear letter. It's just how he operates, yet people are flabbergasted when he gives us a letter just on AA.your a little defensive. He never said hubs would be in place by 1.18, he said its coming soon. And you are right, he never stated exclusively that quest hubs were going in 1.18, but the following statement from letter IX says:
"From top to bottom, those are encampments in the Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah regions. In this way, we’re going to gradually increase the number of public areas with quest hubs. We also have some beast tribe versions in the works, but it’s looking like those will have to wait until 1.19."
That seems to indicate that the 4 major hubs will go live in 1.18 with the beast tribe hubs going live in 1.19.

I think it's just a matter of perspective. The level of difficulty and time it takes to rework the battle system is much higher than implementing a new dungeon. On their side, I think this whole exercise has been a massive amount of work and frustration so when they talk about what's coming, it's this bias that shapes what they focus on.
And maybe it's also because they just want to leave the dungeons as a huge surprise.
