Since beetles are relatively easy to kill and there's nothing nearby to kill you, I would assume bots would teleport to each spawn point, AoE them down, then abandon the duty and queue again with another bot replacing the penalized one.

The other thing is how gil from mobs works. It's split. If you finish WP, and go back and solo any beetles that your group didn't spawn, you get all the gil the whole group would, ie around 200 gil a pop. But as others have said, I kill them mostly for SB, since they give the same amount as any other mob in WP, but are far easier to kill.
