Simply put - SE lags severly with their response to the lag issue ... :P Or - simply hiding from it - like with FC House pricing - take your pick.

Except housing prices are coming down quite hard ...
SE can't reasonably HAVE a response. Why? Because the strength of the complaint is as follows:
I'm lagging! SE its your fault, fix it!
These people have not posted screencaps of pingtests and traceroutes. In one of the lag threads, we managed to single out Verizon FiOS as a cause of the lag some people are experiencing. The amount of people who believe that theres a single path from their PC to the SE servers that only they may access astonishes me. These people have no idea how the internet actually works, and seem content to simply scream at SE to "Fix it" when there is nothing SE can reasonably do to change the path your PC takes to get to its servers. It's on the users to contact their ISPs and clear up any throttling issues, or bad routes.
We have contacted our ISPs on multiple occasions. And no one is screaming to SE to fix it. All we're asking for is an acknowledgement that they are investigating.
A large portion of their player base can't play the game. SE should maybe look at what the problem could be and if it is the fault of the ISPs maybe they should contact them to find a solution?
I buy a product online. It hasn't been delivered. Contact the company to say my product wasn't delivered and I get no response - chances are the delivery company are at fault but is ignoring the problem the best way for this company to deal with the situation?

Doesn't matter how many times you (and others) explain how it actually works.I've said it before and I'll say it again, all pingzapper/WTfast is, is a VPN service, it allows your traffic to be routed via a private network as opposed to the public internet, it's still connecting to the SAME routers and servers on SE's end, therefore if this increases your ping and actually lowers latency, then the issue isn't specifically on SE's end, the problem is a, the internet, millions of people using the infrastructure, so SE could slightly bump up the cast on AoEs for this, or b, your ISP is using a sub-par route to get to the datacenter.
People saying "SE YOUR NETWORK SUCKS" then says how a VPN makes it much more playable makes me laugh every time.
They still believe it's something that SE can fix within their own perimeters.
Since it seems the companies in the middle of the path responsible are not interested in fixing the problems on their side, about the best people can hope for is for SE to relocate the datacenter elsewhere, or just go for one of the VPN solutions that bypasses the bad paths.
Or ask their ISP's to peer against better backbone providers...
can i use ping zapper or them other things while on the ps3??
2.1 - They've already acknowledged and adjusted certain timing which improved for some people but the fact people using VPNs "fixes" the problem means it's the hops taken by certain ISPs which is why as of late certain ISPs are more prone to issues with XIV considering XIV's data is seen as P2P to some ISPs, which they throttle.
People always love to shrug off that it's very likely the ISPs that's having issues with XIV but it's no coincidence a lot of people with the same issue happens to also be within the set of ISPs that seem to be having issues wth the game currently.
We understand this, however, it is SE's responsibility to be communicating with these ISPs to help them identify that it's not P2P traffic.2.1 - They've already acknowledged and adjusted certain timing which improved for some people but the fact people using VPNs "fixes" the problem means it's the hops taken by certain ISPs which is why as of late certain ISPs are more prone to issues with XIV considering XIV's data is seen as P2P to some ISPs, which they throttle.

Other MMO developers do this as a matter of course.
Level3.net drops 20-60% of packets - also they add 800-900ms static (400ms more per hop during prime time) per tracert test within 3 hops from Dallas -> Chicago -> Montreal (SE NA Server Clusters) and two hops between Montreal servers.
Tracert to both the World Server (test Ragnarok) and instance servers go through this Level3.net
Level3 Communications - http://www.level3gaming.com/?level=customersPage
FFXIV is routed via Level3 - my ISP (Verizon FiOs 100up50down) cannot help you once they hit the Level3.net nodes - it's outside their control.
Calling Level3 as an individual is a fruitless effort - they only speak with companies.
So there's nothing you can do but re-route yourself via a VPN for the time being.
Nute Gunray: No need to report that to him until we have something to report!
That's the typical SE approach before the noise gets really really really loud.
Even if they don't have capable staff to remedy the lag itself there are several ways the battle design team could work around it. Either way I also hope they'd at least acknowledge the problem and outline the steps they are taking at the moment to resolve gameplay issues many players are experiencing.
In eu the situation is probably worse than you in us or japan because we don't have a server here.
