And what situation with tanks on your server?

I play a tank on Sargatanas and tried leveling a healer... only to find I'm waiting anywhere up to 30 mins or so in DF for lvl 50 content, that's how bad our tank shortage is. As advancedwind pointed out already, the general attitude towards tanks on our server is horrible, but I try to persevere.

The streets of Excalibur are paves with tanks. The Goddess of Promethia has saw fit to give us an abundance of tanks.

Part of the issue is the item level requirements people are setting. You do not need i85+ gear for primal ex.

Garuda people are using bad tactics to fight and forcing tanks to deal with double wicked wheels. Don't like it? Stop asking tanks to do something stupid. Titan tank deaths are caused by one of two things.. tanks not swapping when they should and healer failing. Ifrit is same as titan really.

Good tanks often don't want to deal with stupid. New tanks are not allowed to learn because people are stupid.

DF has multiple servers in its queues. And yes even healer queues are 15+ minutes long. First MMO I have seen where the shortage of tanks is this bad. Not surprising to me though... Pld is basically a warrior from any other MMO with paladin looking gear and Warrior is really easy to screw up. So many people wont play a pld because it isn't a pld and many people that could/would play a war fail at it.

Now add the fact that the EX primal fights are almost entirely dependent on tanks skill. If even one tank is just a tiny bit slow you will wipe... there is nothing anyone else in the group can do to prevent. Not many people are willing to take on that job...

If it's anything like it is on our server the reason maybe be something like this

Player Finder

LF ILVL 80+
LF Experience players only. Know the fight.
Must have mumble, 3 forms of ID, and come to Revenant's Toll for full cavity search.
3 derps and you're kicked no hard feelings.

So yeah, doesn't really promote new or inexperience players to join.

This, it is so fun to see a 6man PF with these kind of notes waiting for 2 tanks to join on Garuda EX or T4

There are tanks out there its just all the good ones are in statics. On my server there's a decent amount though a majority of them still aren't up to endgame (can barely get through titan HM). Though on occasion I hear my fc mates who aren't in a static (we are still looking for people for a second group) will find that one magic PF that just happens to know what they are doing.

I'd like to, but I'm kinda scared.

I really don't feel like getting berated by entitled little kids these days because they don't want to give me a learning experience to be a good tank or healer.

Tons of tanks in Excalibur, same with healers. Usually the last to fill but naturally there will be less than dps, plus now that people are gearing alts a lot of people are getting comfortable subbing as tank in primals and coil.

Im a tank so these queue problems rarely happen to me But if it helps when I'm setting up the Duty Finder/Party Finder I tend to select all language/world groups as way to cut down yours and mine waiting times, point is how many people remember to click the J,E,F,D boxes when setting these things?
If I only search in the default "E" (English) worlds I'm looking at 10min+ wait times but with all of them selected its a matter of seconds usually
Oh the tank situtation is bad by what I hear from a healer friend on my World sometimes 30-45min wait times so we tend to run together if we're doing content of a similar level (im a lower lv then him).

I know that DF is multiple servers in the group. I fear for the other servers as much as Sarg since it's so hard to get one in DF. The problem has been around since shortly after release, it's not something new that has occurred because of 2.1 and it's extremes. The problem is simply that Tanks get so much more flak than anyone else in a party, it's much easier and simpler for people to roll DPS or heals and have the weight of unrealistic expectations be put on someone else. Anyone can learn extremes, no one can be expected to do it without flaw every single time from first to last attempt, yet that is what the current expectation is from most groups looking for tanks in anything.
