IFRIT HARDMODE ::: Melee help STUN during three part eruptions?

Since resistance starts building DPS after ANY hit now, shouldn't all DPS who can stun help eye for the Multi-Eruption that may help new groups stun more carefully, instead of just relying on one person and him panicking and taking all the blame for a messed up stun -- he stunned plumes on accident!

It's far more efficient to have 1 person stun, mistakes happen but most people who DF for example can barely organize themselves to kill 1 nail if the LB is up - you can't honestly expect people to rotate stuns between 3+ people.

I think what OP is saying is that Ifrit gains a resistance to stun after the first stun now (I know they changed it for him, I just wasn't sure how). Therefore for the best chance to stun eruptions, shouldn't all the melee try stun every eruption.

Without knowing how they adjusted Ifrit's eruptions (does it build to an absolute immunity? Does it reset after a time?) I can't really say if it's worth it or not.

I will say there's no point stunning them before Hellfire now; they're easily avoided. Save them for the eruptions between second and third plumes where it's more difficult.

For the three part eruptions in the last phase, people need to run to the back of the map and then proceed forward so that by the time they reach Ifrit to stack on him, the eruptions will be gone. A lot of people are still running up to Ifrit to stack on him and then are forced to run back out when the eruptions aren't able to be stunned.

No. Because they will all overwrite each other depending on order and you'll only get one or two total instead of 3.

However, just dodge the eruptions, it's really NOT hard. You have to do it in extreme anyways.

They didn't change Ifrit (they did make Eruptions weaker, but that's tangential). They changed resistances. It happens with anything you stun, sleep, slow, etc.

Before the patch, debuff resistance would reset 60 seconds after the first stun/sleep/whatever. Now it's 60 seconds after the last one.

It's a lot more noticeable with Ifrit, because it actually makes a difference. You're still better off having one person stun, or having a properly-executed stun rotation between 2 people (if you can), because if you stack up stuns, they're just wasting full/half/quarter duration stuns on the same eruption, building to resistance faster and covering fewer eruptions. You need to cover all three eruptions whenever you can (especially before nails) to fill the LB bar. It's especially important if you have multiple people on the same class, since the LB bar doesn't fill as fast in those cases.

Honestly, people should just be ready to run on every eruption now. The one time I've done this on my Paladin since 2.1, I hit every single Eruption (no Plumes) and they still went off half the time. It's still helpful to stun what you can, but people need to be moving when the ability is cast just in case.

Yeah, stunning isn't a reliable strategy to protect against every stun now. You just gotta be prepared to move. It kinda sucks, but now at least he feels a little harder. A little, anyway.

What I've noticed from this fight while tanking/off-tanking as PLD is that after three stuns he'll resist for about 60 seconds. Which means two eruptions cycle will go through.

As an offtank (which only happens in duty finder as this can be solo tanked), PLD's are on stun duty. No one but the paladin should be stunning. The times that DPS "helped" with stuns it generally lead to more deaths, as I can generally shout out to the party which eruptions will go through or not.

I won't just say to "just dodge" eruptions as I've never played the fight as a dps or healer, but I will say that it's easier to manage if you count how many stuns have gone through (you'll hear the LB bar chime) and prepare to dodge after three stuns. Dodge two eruptions and continue to carry on.


Note: this is just what I observed from a week of farming Ifrit HM

Hot bar sprint and get ready to run. It is fairly easy to dodge, compares to what comes after it.
