I just think it's funny people are in favor or more customization options just not skimpy/sexy ones, because anytime those are used it's us dirty men who are to blame. Options are options so no one said you would have to dress that way but seriously why are people so against it?

Because we are playing a fantasy role playing game and people largely pick a gender because they like the aesthetics of that gender. You are denying people the ability to look like how they want to look, because genders are equal doesn't mean that expressions of gender are a bad thing. As I said if it was me I'd have saint's row customization for everything because restricting creativity is dumb.

Who the heck extrapolates these issues into a video game anyway, this is a escapist and recreational time waster you're weird for caring this much.

Simple: Allow the men to wear the same styles, and the women to wear the same styles.

So everyone gets a great range of styles, instead of having style A for X and style B for Y, you got style A and B for whoever wants it.

Options are options, but you can have too much choice. Options are limited for a reason, and in this case it's for immersive purposes. I'd have to assume the reason plate armour isn't bikinified in XIV is because they want it to look practical. I'm all for creativity and I'm not against people dressing however they want in Eorzea, I encourage it; but not when it comes at the cost of immersion.

For example; I would be totally against people running around Mor Dhona in Batman costumes or driving around in a Ferrari instead of riding around on a Chocobo. There are some seasonal outfits and vanity items that are a little on the whacky side, but non that you can effectively wear in combat.. other than that damn Coliseum set.

To me at least id like to see gear that looks very different as most look the same on girls and guys not all but it be nice to see a lot more looks

we all know how this will turn out, girls will end up with same gear but the graphics of them will look like they are hardly wearing anything when guys will looked completely geared up ready for war

I'm all for feminine gear or more variety between the two genders. I'm definitely not the type who would want platekinis in FFXIV but i would be open for more skirts or even having plated robes for tanks that would be pretty awesome.


Speaking of feminine clothes, i wonder if this vanity dress will be available in 2.2

I think what's best (as it has been said already) is to have the vanity system without too many restrictions, and then different sets that look alike for each other. So it'll be in you if you wanna wear the PLD AF set that shows little to no skin, or something more dress-like (none specific comes to mind) but such as robes or skirts, or if you wanna go the bikini style and wear something like the coliseum set.

I do like how the same item looks very similar for both males and females. It'd be kinda silly that my tin can armor set is well, a tin can for me, but a plate-kini for my fellow female-tank.

Same item, 2 different things? Sounds kinda dumb (even though it's the norm usually x_X)

Customization through vanity system is the way to go.

I'd be cool with more options for everyone...but for the most part, gender-specific armors come off as pretty ridiculous in a lot of games. Whether it's random cleavage shots of women or steel mini-skirts, female characters get the ridiculous end of the stick on that one. How the heck does one make 'Darksteel' curve around individual breasts? Perverted Blacksmiths, I guess. However, it's reasonable to suggest plenty of different vanity options for men and women, like the pic Thalasya posted.
