Thoughts on Siren?

I haven't done pharos sirius yet, but does it talk about her origin at all?

The only thing mentioned is that with the destruction the lighthouse took with the Calamity, she sorta came in and took over making it her home. So she's an entity that probably likes aetheric distortions brought on by overaspcted/corrupted aether. When defeated she seems to "explode" into the same kind of purple clouds that other bosses do, things from the Void in particular.

I see, so it may still be possible that she's an ancient ixali that turned to dark/void magic (influenced by the asciens perhaps?). Kinda like lady amandine haukke.

Doubt it, she's in Vylbrand. Ixali are a long ways away from Vylbrand. I'd say Siren(s) are just creatures of the Void. As for Sailors saying they've heard/seen Sirens, it looks like they can fly/hover so I wonder if they hear/see Sirens in the open sea or around islands, I'm thinking more so around islands.

I think SE will stick to only Beastmen Tribes worshipping/summoning Primals. Probably why they introduced the Gigas/Giants and Mamool Ja, though they're only here as Mercenaries which is kinda confusing since they're attacking people in bands at Iron Lake so maybe they're resorting to stealing/attacking 'innocents' and adventurers because there's no work.

The Mamool came here as mercenaries after the Calamity - lot more work to be done by a lot less people. The realm made an unprecedented bounce-back, however, and, as you say, a lot of them are out of a job and turn to banditry and the like. The Gigant tribes, excluding the hecatonchier, are here for Crystal Tower... exactly why, we don't really know. We know they consider it a holy place, we know Okeanos the Red believed himself descended from the Allag...that's about it.

I'm going to be really bummed if they recycled the Mamool just to have another primal summoning race, though... the XIV races have been tortured and interesting so far. Would SE really let the discussion go, "We need more beast tribes!" "Whatever, just grab something out of FFXI."

Sadly I wouldn't be surprised. Toss in Mamool Ja to be a Beast tribe new to Eorzea, mercenaries (clearly like to fight) that are approached by the Ascians with an offer. "Remember that guy you worshiped back in your homeland? Yeah we can make him REAL!." Queue the Lore. Though I'd love to learn more about the other lands.
