Paladin - the lack of identity

Apparently the translation in Japanese stands for "Knight" rather than Paladin. (Just quoting another forum member)

Think they may have called it Paladin to attract the Final Fantasy fans to the role?

They could make the totally worthless Cure combo with riot blade to actually cure for a decent amount, then paladins couldn't replace healers but they could certainly augment them.

@ the OP... Stoneskin is pretty strong if you use it well. I do agree that paladins need improvement but the reality is that this is a newer game and there is much room for expansion and development

Does anyone know btw if any of the paladin abilities do magic based damage? Like Circle of Scorn or maybe spirits within? Just curious.

Minor nitpick, Circle of Scorn is a Gladiator ability, not a Paladin one.

They just removed any signifigant healing from tanks with the Inner beast change, why would they then add it back in?

OK wise guy, what part of pit-fighter with a sword and shield suggests it should have spells? The only Gladiator job NOW is Paladin, but what happens if they add a different job? Gladiator uses daggers, maybe it'll be thief or ninja, why would they have spell damage?

I think PLD is simple on purpose, as encounters increase in difficulty (Titan HM aside) the number of tasks that a tank is responsible increases pretty steeply. By having mind numbing simple aggro generation, it frees more cognitive ban-width for positioning, picking up adds, aggro swapping, and managing fight mechanics with cool downs.
