The OP diagram is missing rows...there are plenty of ways to do it tbh. In fact, if a group is coordinated enough, they can put it almost all on the same row but one on each green square and that is enough distance to not trigger the tether.

If you have a BLM heavy group, Flare is nice too, stack every skele, Swiftcast flare (im not sure if you need swiftcast or not, im not a BLM) it's worked out well for me before, we had 10 BLM in one group, annihilated the skeles as soon as they got up.
It definitely looks like it was intended to be done that way, but every CT group i've been in have just pulled it to the north platforms and stacked the skeletons on different parts of the south platforms. It's worked, but easier to not pay attention and have the tanks double stack.
So, I actually was watching the boss tonight while doing Crystal Tower. The point of, "TANK IT IN THE NORTH TO AVOID THE CLEAVE!" Is moot, the cleave only happens in phase 3 after all the skeletons are dead... And the majority of DPS and healers are behind the boss at that point or have it facing away from them. But I digress, whatever is more effective for you is what works.
By melee you must mean monks, because everyone else has ranged attacks. They have so little HP that there is no reason to chase them through poison with 20+ people attacking 6 of them.
ps - there are 8 rows, not the 6 in your pictures
Omg, ther r 8 rows. These diagrams r dumb, cuz ther onli 6 rows. Whole thred is wrng. wtf.
Funny, isn't it? DPS have no problems walking into AoEs or taking hits to the face but Twelve forbid if they have to walk through some weak poison. As someone who has healed this fight too many times, it is not difficult to pop a regen/cure on a DD who has to run into the poison.
The fight as a whole isn't difficult for healers, at all. So, not really sure why that's being thrown out as downside of pulling him to a wall.
This fight is a snooze fest even if your tank is the MT.
200 damager every 1.75 Seconds sure is weak. Takes you down real fast.
