How did the community become this toxic?

so far in this thread I have read countless posts about how bad the community is. While that may be true in some cases, there is one particular area I want to touch upon: PUGs.

I have only had one truly negative memorable experience in this game with regards to PUGging. I was in CBM Hard Mode, I shat the bed on the part where the hecatonchiers break through the walls and the bombs try to kill the miners who are breaking the rock. Everyone flipped a shit on me (it totally was my fault, not gonna argue that) but it went from 0 to 11 in the span of 2 minutes.

Other than that, I have not had a single bad experience when PUGging. Im not going to preach about how people can make groups better and the old adage that "you were the common factor in all those 'sh*t' groups", but I am wondering if its just a thing on my server where people are generally all about being a positive community member. Last week was my first attempt at T1. I made the party myself, telling everyone in it it was my first time, no one even batted an eye (and I was nervous about that after hearing so many horror stories from other people about PUGging coil). We didn't down Caduceus, but we all had fun, no one got upset, it was a great time.

Counting that DF is cross server and my bad experiences are all from that...I'd say no. I find Balmung community pretty good itself.

Maybe my experiences are the outliers. I don't really come across douchey people in the DF. If and when I do, I just ignore them. Thats not a community thing, that is an individual person thing.

In addition, the party finder is a great tool for like minded players to play together; if only it were used more often, considering the DF is veeeerry convenient for a lot of players.
