What does having a Zenith weapon and Allagan gear have to do with understanding how a Job works?

Healing should always be the priority, but there is a point where standing around with your hands in your pockets becomes boring; I have nothing against healers doing DPS, so long as they don't drop the ball healing. I myself do DPS as a WHM during Garuda Extreme; since Holy works wonders on those plumes.

I find raids and trials keep healers on their toes, no time for dps (unless it's ifrit hm). Dps healers are either Scholars or White Mages at AK/WP. I find OP to be in better interests, healers who do nothing but healing is better than healers that dps and run out of mana.

I mean, the role is healer, not dps

At the same time; a healer that does DPS and heals, without running out of MP is better than the healer that only heals. A healer doing DPS can in some cases be the difference between a clear and a wipe; notable cases are Titan's heart, Turn 4 and Garuda Extreme plumes. Any encounter with an enrage where every last drop of DPS is required is a time where your DPS could make the difference.

Nobody is saying DPS is more important than healing; a healer should NEVER compromise their healing for DPS; but when they are able, they would better the group to do so. This is the difference between bad healers, good healers and outstanding healers.

A has nothing to do with B here. You've experienced healers who don't know how to DPS correctly.

I have never seen someone say "if a healer doesn't DPS they are not doing their jobs". What most of us have said (because it is simply true) is a healer who can properly DPS while healing and MP managing makes the difference between an average healer and a stellar healer.

If you have the ability to do it without hindering your party, then do it. I never did any DPSing until WP and was afraid I would be yelled at by everyone when I did!
It took time and macros, but it definitely pays off IF you can do it right. It takes a lot of practice, though, and healers shouldn't be letting the tank die in order to DPS.
    Unacceptable.

True but everyone has to learn how to do this eventually and lower level dungeons are a much more forgiving place to practice.
