The worst part about being a tank in this game is everyone expects me to lead and be the hero and know exactly what to do in order to speed run through the dungeon as quickly as possible. It is frustrating to enjoy a role when everyone is always riding your rear on doing things they way they want it done. I like to take my time and enjoy the dungeon. Seems most times in a DF party nobody wants to talk or teach me things or come up with a strategy. I tried doing Sastasha, which is a very easy dungeon. I tried doing it as Tank and because I didn't have a perfect knowledge of the map, I was constantly chasing the other party member around, getting told "not that way!" and "do you even know where you're going?" In the end everyone commented on how it was the longest run ever, that I was a horrible tank, and then left.

It just takes a special kind of person to take up the responsibility of tanking or healing. Sadly, there are less of said kinds of people than there are of people who just want to burn the target, dodge stuff, receive win.
i love the people that choose said dps role for lack of responsibility and not causing that wipe, and takes time blaming the healers or tanks for it.........they are a special kind of stupid imo

So let's discuss a scenario, shall we?

For argument's sake, no mistakes being made for this discussion are going to result in a death. We'll simply say failure to dodge always occurs on something like a single plume, or an Ifrit charge, or whatever. Obviously not something you want to happen, but not outright lethal.

So a mistake is made by a DPS, tank or another healer, the tank doesn't pay for it. The DPS don't. The healers do. It's a simple fact that tanks don't have as much to dodge. 2.1 seems to be heading in a direction that actually makes tanks do things, but prior I would argue tanking was easier than DPSing in many fights. For Titan they could simply stand in one spot over and over. The difference between a bad tank with great gear and a good tank with good gear? Seeing who blows a cooldown and casts a stoneskin right before his "swipe" move after landslide, that way it goes off right before mountain buster. That's not really a whole lot to worry about.

Now, assuming you aren't able/willing to be in a perfect group 100% of the time, the slack is essentially going to be picked up via the healers.

In short, everyone pays in part for their own mistakes. Healers, however, pay for their own and others.

As a Tank, I often run into this situation. My solution, I just start spamming Fast Blade and being a cheesy DPS and not even bothering with maintaining aggro or controlling the mobs in any way. I mean, if they charge in like they they wanna tank and take charge, I let um. Some learn after a couple battles, most don't. If you wanna do my job, I'll certainly step aside and let you. And if/when I catch flak for it, I can honestly say it wasn't MY fault that the situation went sideways.

    As was stated earlier:

Tank dies it's the healers fault.
Healer dies it's the tanks fault.
Anyone else dies, it's their own fault.

But my additions to this, when I'm tanking, is:
You spank it, YOU tank it.

None of the roles are "the most important", it's the holy trinity, can't have one without the others.

DPS goes and you die from taking too long on rage moves etc, healers go and everyone dies because... well... no heals, tank goes and the mobs/boss swarm the healers and DPS.
