Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW

That's the whole point of the OP's post. He/she is saying this game is modeled after WoW rather than its predecessor. And that is true. And how you can say that is staying true to FF with a straight face is beyond me. They stayed true to World of Warcraft. Not Final Fantasy.

Yar and then they act like this is some modern mmo formula for success when WoW is just as old as FFXI and many WoW clones have failed. Also just because it takes from FFXI doesn't mean it has to be an extreme grind. That part of FFXI definitely has to improve.

I agree. This game could have easily followed in Final Fantasy 11's tradition while improving on the parts that needed it. It would have made for a unique and better game I think.

No one is suggesting they should clone Final Fantasy 11. You can't call my argument bad when you don't even understand it.

What me and others wanted was for them to use Final Fantasy 11 as a guide. To build upon what the game achieved and improve upon it. Not completely abandon it and use WoW as a foundation instead.

Exactly instead of using WoW as a guide they could of used FFXI as a guide and just make it as casual friendly but there seems to be this misunderstanding that most FFXI fans want something extremely grindy and non soloable. Like hellooooo you don't see Bioware copy FF games.

No matter what takeing things from a game thats been done once like XI VS taking things from a game thats been replicated a billion times, which game is still more original?

Taking good things from XI which was an epic game and implementing them in a new way for ARR would make ARR more original than it's competition which all share the same traditional over done dieing trend of MMO's.

What would you rather, Square Enix remain in this horrible trend it's joined or put more of a spin on there game by bringing back some of there own ideas.

By saying don't take things from XI your basically asking them to abandon whats there's. Years of MMO progression in there own way flushed down the toilet in an instant, seems like an awful waste of a whole world of useful materials to take ideas from.

It's like a nerd becoming an alcoholic just because the other kids would peer pressure him into being something he was never supposed to be.

Let Final Fantasy be Final Fantasy and stop trying to destroy the game with oh we don't need this oh we don't need that.

The game needs alot of content and I think SE should go back to there roots a little and bring back some seriously imersive game play.

FFXI is still live. Why should FFXIV be the same thing? New graphics engine? That's quite an expensive expansion for something with less than 200,000 subscribers. These "wow-like" changes have been part of the reason FFXIV has been able to reach 1.5M+ subscribers. Kind of hard to justify rolling back. While we're at it why don't we do a visual upgrade to pong? Gameplay must increment, improve, change as the audience grows/changes.

Get a few features from FFXI into this game? Maybe, but to turn it into FFXI-2 they would have to shut down FFXI first.

Think about what you just said MageBlack. Did you see what Final Fantasy 11 looked like population wise right after Final Fantasy 14 was released? Because SE is doing exactly what you are suggesting they shouldn't.
