    Holmgang----Only Root Enemy

With its current buff, holmgang is now a great go to last resort option. But with its current iteration, and something that has bugged me for awhile, is its root. Rooting you along with the enemy is 90% of the time pretty terrible for you.

I'm suggesting that holmgang now root the enemy in place, but allow you to move freely. This allows holmgang to now be a more versatile skill. Several fights punish you for holmganging (Titan EX for example, and no you cannot root yourself from landslides) that require constant moving or dodging. Also the rooting is pretty annoying when the mob you holmgang is fully resistant and your still stuck there, you traded off nothing for a debuff.

This adjustment would make holmgang a bit more useful, and allow you to holmgang without risk of dying immediately after because you couldn't run out of a aoe or knock back.

Holmgang versus Hallowed Ground: I can't rationalize the difference.

Not only is Hallowed Ground lasting longer (10 sec), it also has absolutely no down sides.

Using Hallowed Ground allows my healer to quickly heal me to full, it's almost a guaranteed saving grace. Using Holmgang just saves me from dying right now, but my HP will still drop to 1. It means after the 6 seconds even an autoattack will kill me. If the healers couldn't keep me up before Holmgang, they likely won't after.

As someone who have both PLD and WAR at 50, I thought a good improvement would be:
    • Remove the root
    • Make it last 10 seconds
    • When the effect ends, receive 35% of max health
Something like that would make it look better compared to Hallowed Ground. Maybe adjust the cooldown accordingly. Warriors are already relying on consistent heals to survive. It seems weird to design a skill that will guarantee death if you don't have consistent heals (the 1HP-autoattack-death).

Don't compare Holmgang to Hallowed Ground. Instead compare it to another useless skill such as.... awareness? Awareness seems to only shine when healer dies and you want to stay alive long enough for the boss to go down haha....

Hallowed Ground has the downside of not working when you need it the most.

Holmgang lets me cheat death for 6 seconds.

I disagree. Holmgang is an entirely reasonable life-saver if the healers are currently busy with some other task or trying to move to reach me. Sure, it's not as secure as the complete invulnerability of Hallowed Ground, but the incoming damage won't be constant, and it's enough time to fire off a couple Cure IIs or Lustrates to bring you back up to a safer HP level.

Yes it's a life saver, it has saved my life once as well. I'm just saying that it's just no comparison to the potency of Hallowed Ground. It's just that I feel Holmgang has too many down sides.

Now if with Holmgang, while it's active, any damage (except instant kill rage mechanisms obviously) that would have killed you will instead heal you for the same amount, then it feels more powerful. You'll still be hovering about 1HP, but you'll at least have more than just 1HP.

The only change needed is to make sure that if the target does not recieve the effect of bind then neither do you.
    The rest is fine.

Not at all. I've had no trouble activating it when I need it. Perhaps you are having latency problems?
