Well, we will see. GW2 videos are weak at best and much of it is still speculation. The concept and engineering behind it sounds great IF they pull it off. But how long has it been in development? Years reminds me of Huxley like 3 years ago? These guys were building the ultimate FPS MMO and never released it. Now I know GW2 will be released but I have my doubts on it's quality. Especially having played Aion for a year and seeing how bad that title was handled by NC Soft. Even with them only being the publisher it has me concerned.FFXIV is a different MMO. IT SUX REALLY HARD. It's Hello Kitty that looks great. Battle is 1111114111112. And repeat on next fight. It may have potential but it will never be a main stream mmo so many people thought it would. Ya i did play Alpha and Beta up to release and i was a fan boy saying "It will be better at release, their holding stuff back for release" Holy SHT all us fan boys were wrong... How can you defend SE for releasing a game that was still in ALPHA?? Ya i played the game till about 3 weeks ago. Like many others i will be seeing what the( patch 1.18) Dungens look like. Get bored after a week or two and wait till the next update to log back in.
I'm just waiting for Guild Wars 2 to comes out. It has so much in the game and it is actually could be released now. AreaNet is fixing/changing/adding stuff they do not like. The game Demo's on youtube look amazing. Their's hours and hours of demo's. Hell ya i'm going to play/switch to that game. Best of all for how awsome the game looks and plays, NO MONTHLY FEE"S. Some people may feel F2P suck but hay some do some do not. I'm putting GW2 in the DO NOT SUCK section of F2P. Take a look at it on youtube and see for yourself.
Besides, GW2 won't be released until 2012 anyhow so there is plenty of time for XIV to be refined. GW2 seems to be the only game people are looking forward to. Tera will fail just like Aion did. Korea can't make an american game. They focus too much on crap that belongs in second life only.
I've known a few people who left to play Rift, only to come back because Rift was just a carbon copy of WoW. That should tell you how tired ppl are of playing the same thing, yet as soon as someone comes up with something original, they immediately b@#$! about it, and demand it be changed into what they're familiar. It's like Immortality in the literary sense, the hero may desire it, but when he finds it, it's almost always a curse.
I love how everyone rides on the phrase, "this game has potential"...in reality every game has potential, the only reason any of us stick around is because we're either (1) hardcore FF fans, (2) ex-FFXI fans, or (3) retarded :P jk. But seriously every game has potential, imo FFXIV is no different and I see this potential dwindling with each passing patch - I think this game is now trying to appease to the majority so they can try and drag in as many casual players as possible, especially on the PS3, so imo any potential this had is seeping out slowly and its faster and faster turning into your typical run of the mill MMO.

If that was the case, then I don't see why the dev team is taking so long to implement this stuff and speak to the community about what they would like to see. If they honestly wanted to go that route, they could have easily patched it up like 2 months ago and start charging everyone to play it for a few months and then quit because it was just like WoW and Rift + the other thousands of MMORPGs.
I dont think this is really a problem, i feel new ideas can work with people if they are executed, unfortunately developers dont try to innovate cause they are afraid they may fail, they would rather take the safe audience and just copy things. SE did not execute and i guarantee you if they took all their ideas they were talking about pre beta and actually executed them this would be a unique experience that people enjoyed. Too many people are blaming players and saying they want an mmo copy, that isnt true at all. we want SE to execute on SOMETHING, cause up until now they have failed.I've known a few people who left to play Rift, only to come back because Rift was just a carbon copy of WoW. Now they are in damage control so they really have no choice but to resort to dumbed down stuff to try to gather enough curious gamers to charge. They missed their window to create an epic unique game, we did not do this to them, and people that say that its our fault are terribly wrong. I think people need to understand the fact that this game will probably never live up to expectations. It missed the window to truely innovate unrestricted by trying to rush fix the game, and it will always carry the stigma of its launch. Sooner people realize this the sooner companies will learn to execute, because then more companies will lose business.
OK maybe I'm wrong so go ahead and tell me what stands out to you as "unique" about this game? maybe I am legitimately wrong, I'm not trying to mock you or anything, but If unique means daily repeatable quests that are more a hindrance to fun that straight out grinding then I don't want unique. If unique means that entire zones outside the city walls is equivalent to a pre-level 10 zone in every other MMO in existence then I don't want unique. If unique means large maps that are a bore to look at and explore then I don't want unique. What is unique exactly? is it the crafting system? sure its nice but its nothing special and it has been done to some degree in the same way in other games like Everquest I believe...and considering this game isn't a crafting game, I don't want unique. If by unique you mean it has the most beautiful graphics of any MMO, sure but at what expense? If that was the case, then I don't see why the dev team is taking so long to implement this stuff and speak to the community about what they would like to see. So what is unique about this game exactly? and in your opinion where has the dev team taken this game? all I see are patches inducing shallow quests that are even more boring, shallow mobs they called NMs although they are hardly notorious since we see them more often than their "placeholders" and instanced dungeons are on the way...nothing unique and the game is turning into your typical run of the mill MMO imo. Maybe you see things differently and its not like I want this for this game but this is exactly all I see.
And please don't tell me that the Market Wards are unique, they are the most retarded idea to date.

I didn't exactly say it was unique at all, but the point i am trying to make is that if they wanted FFXIV to be like any other MMORPG out there, they would have done it by now.OK maybe I'm wrong so go ahead and tell me what stands out to you as "unique" about this game? maybe I am legitimately wrong, I'm not trying to mock you or anything, but If unique means daily repeatable quests that are more a hindrance to fun that straight out grinding then I don't want unique. I'll judge the uniqueness of a game when it is finished. This game is not even close to being done. I suppose by the time the battle patch is released, i'll write you an essay about how unique it is or how lame and dull it is and compare it to battle systems of other mmorpgs.
I'm not calling you out on anything, but you want an answer, and you shall have an answer. I'll look into it.
So instead of betting on odds and evens you want to bet it'll land on it's edge. Well let me tell you something, anyone can talk big, but very few deliver it, and sometimes it's by pure chance.I dont think this is really a problem, i feel new ideas can work with people if they are executed, unfortunately developers dont try to innovate cause they are afraid they may fail, they would rather take the safe audience and just copy things. It's Delusions Of Grandeur. Let's face it, if you want to bet your livelyhood on a lottery of a million or more to one odds, sure, but I say the odds are you'll instead is to go out and get a lame boring job...and maybe even a better then just lame job.
Less movies and more reality.
