Wouldn't it make more sense to have vanity gear be sold in stores or made by crafters?

This is Square Enix we're talking about; it makes more sense to have vanity gear be sold as a reward for successfully completing FATEs which spawn rarely and randomly, FATEs which can very easily be over just as you get there given the random nature of them. OP should almost certainly get their wish, given this is almost exactly what Odin and Behemoth have set as a precedent.

I really do wonder when exactly I entered this bizarro backwards world... Best gear in the game? Relatively easy to get. Purely cosmetic gear? Camp NMs for months...

Vanity gear for the sake of it not upsetting the new people to the mmo genre is a good thing and can still appeal to older members of the genre. I don't wish this to be a fate type thing. This is something more for the Hardcore grindy type. Where you have to actually be dedicated to the task. They are already going to implement Vanity gear I am simply suggesting they also do so in a way that caters to the more hardcore crowd. These NM's do not have to be easy and they should be unforgiving. But its okay we have different preferences. merely making suggestions.

Oh, I'm not against vanity gear being "difficult" to get, I just wish part of the games actual progression was equally as "difficult". They've already given us two iLv90 weapons, but you obtain them in almost the exact same way. Relics have a bit more leg work involved, certainly for the high quality version, but the new weapons from Extreme Primals are really not that different in how you obtain them... Really wish they'd made that more grindy...
